krisgowing
Morning Basically over a year ago I got given a skid pan course as a present. The way things have gone I've had to keep moving it back to having a busy schedule. Just wondered if anyone has done one and there thought's I'm tempted to pay a bit extra and upgrade it to a drift experience or track time and have some fun in the Supra. It's at the old RAF base near me so not far to travel just wanted to see if anyone found it fun and worth it.
r0cknr0lla
Done a few.. Teaches very good car control in wet conditions.. Not to mention its good fun. Drift day also sounds good
Al Massey
I've done loads with a lot of courses through the army. Great fun, learnt a lot to be fair. Worth a go
Gaz6002
I've done loads. It's a good way to teach you how to hold a slide, but it doesn't teach you much about how the rear end breaks traction. A day on a track will teach you more, IMO.
krisgowing
Thanks guys, Seems pretty beneficial from what you say. Maybe worth having ago at this and then organizing a track day later on!
j_jza80
I spent 20 minutes on a skidpan in a Caterham, was one of the most fun driving experiences I've had. I literally spent the whole time giggling like a simpleton As has been said, it teaches you about car control and controlling the car on the throttle. krisgowing
Had the skid pan yesterday and it was a good bit of fun for a Sunday morning! The guys didn't over due the theory and just let us get into it. First go round was under steer, the second go was over steer and the third the guy said just have some fun and try pop this tire as it was on it's way out! Asked to take the Supra on but he said some guy took his own car went through his tires in 3 goes and popped his tire. Was in an old BMW 2.8 , I've got some pictures and videos so may pop them up if anyone wants to see

Ian C
I've been on that very same course with STR Only BMW I'll ever drive I hope lol I got it for my wife, so she could experience different types of skids and how to control them etc. I also wanted a go myself to remind me that I could control it and still had the reflexes - I don't tend to cane it enough on the road to break traction! When the instructor said "can you keep your hands on the wheel please" as I let it fly back after catching a tail slide while talking to the guy, I figured the old magic was still there
