Big Supes
Seems to be a new government site that will help anyone who is thinking of purchasing a new car. Probably won't be very useful for imports mind you. https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

Big Supes
It's been about for years mate. Oh rly? Someone forwarded it on to me and said it was new. Oh well, it was nice to see my car's MOT history. All good, albeit some fussy testers out there!

Al Massey
It hasn't. That website is still a beta. Something may have been accessible for you but this hasn't
Benjy
Mate, there's been an MOT history checker for years on the .gov site. I've used it for every car I've bought to sell on to back up the service history and confirm mileages where no paperwork has been given with the car. This may be a beta site, but it's just a rework of the original site. Remember, it used to be VOSA, it's now DVSA, and they're re-working all of the MOT system, including the way tests are clocked on and off, and the way results are entered. It's all via a website now, and we no longer need to use our smart cards, we literally log into DVSA's website as testers.
Scooter
Didn't you need either the mot cert no. Or the v5 number before? Ie you had to contact a seller to get one or the other which wasn't always easy.
Benjy
You could use the V5 or V5C2 number. That was always how I did it. Much easier now, but also less info. I.e. No test station details, no tester details...
Al Massey
So this service is new, and is aimed at people checking second hand cars they plan to buy, where as before it was for current owners/dealers only?

Scooter
It's nice because now it means you can do a little digging without contacting and persuading a seller to give you the MOT or V5 ref.
Benjy
The previous version was good because if a service book hadn't been stamped, you could back track the MOT stations to find out if they'd serviced the car, (99% of my customers have a service and MOT together...) and if they had, if they could stamp the book up for you. GazB
Mine says 1992 first used! M reg 1994 on everything else including id plate plus import docs etc I think there must of been an input error somewhere, wonder if I can get it changed? Any ideas? krisgowing
Whenever I put my car in any insurance websites it always comes up as 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero Td, 2835CC Diesel, 5DR, Manual. Why is this a car that was scrapped then the plates were used on the Supra when it was registered? The plates match up on the V5 document just seems weird to me!
