ripped_fear
So time to resurrect this thread with summer round the corner, the car has been having a cold start issue the day after I take it for a run, so i have another igniter to go on it, hopefully that is all it is. I have also been accumulating some parts for some more work on the car. The one thing that annoys me about the supra is how hollow the doors sound, and how much road noise I get through the cabin. So I have decided to add a bit of weight to the car and bought the following -a box of silent coat 2mm deadening -a roll of padded sound deadening material -OEM front speaker box's -OEM moulded weather membrane -A roll of flat weather membrane to replace the oem door ones. -A spare set of OEM seat belts. Im hoping all this should give a nice cabin experience. Have decided to go back to oem speaker box's to help make the door feel more sturdy, and allow to me to have the oem fixings back, I just need to select some good small speakers and get come TB development speaker rings so the fit and finish is spot on. I have also swapped out some of the oem trims for better condition replacements as my boot plastics had a few marks here and there, and while doing so have added the missing screw cap covers to the screw holes. Other than that I have a cupboard full of parts I have been accumulating to refurb the underside, and some other bits which I haven't got around to fitting, ie, new rear brakes, oem shifter bushes, braided brake lines, and all sort of other little bits. We have also been in full swing organising the tearoom tours and if anyone is willing to donate to a fantstic cause, 'LATCH' then please follow the link http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?352455-Tearoom-Tours-supporting-LATCH Hopefully should have some updates in the next week or two, but for now here is a couple of pictures from recent drives. - - - Updated - - - Great work Jake, the car is looking stunning mate, great work wow, what a stunner! lovely motor Thanks guys

ripped_fear
So I did a little bit of work on the car the other day, gave the bay a clean after the winter, and fitted the new igniter which involves removing multiple bits due to all the dress up parts lol. now need to do a few test journeys to test it out, but the first test was ace cafe which it passed Nice little meet and the first club meet ive done besides the NEC in a very long time! ripped_fear
The last couple of weeks I started on a little job which sort of snow balled into a bit of a bigger project than planned so here goes. I have never been happy with how rattly the interior has been on the rear end and how hollow the doors have sounded so i set about curing that. I started on the doors, where I stripped them down and quick realised why they sounded so crap, the speaker brackets have always been a bit naff and the weather membrane was shot, but i noticed when looking carefully the loom had been routed incorrectly and it wasn't clipped in to some of the oem mounts, this lead to stripping both doors down entirely and starting from scratch. Both were stripped and cleaned up, all old silicone removed with panel wipe and the oem membrane thrown in the bin. The loom was then re routed properly at the cost of allot of time, then the oem speaker plug were soldered and heat shrinked back on to there oem locations, once this was done I used 5 sheets of silent coat on the outer skins of the doors on each door. Once this was done a small section of sound deadening pad was added to the oem lock cables in the stock location and some padded stick back pieces put around some of the oem cabling to prevent chaffing and rattling. Then 3x screw inserts were added into the stock locations to allow the oem speaker boxes to be refitted, then the stock boxes had there TB development brackets screwed in place with a small bead of silicone sealer and the new pioneer 3 way speakers installed. once all this was done I cut new membranes and added a fresh bead of sealent as done from factory and added the weather membrane inserts that come from Toyota. Once all this was done it was just a case of resembling. The doors now sound lovely and solid at the cost of a little weight and the sound is even better from the speakers than I had from the larger 17cm units. Now on to the rear, all the plastics were removed and all panels given a good clean with panel wipe, there was a surprising amount of dirt and dust on the inside so please excuse some of the dirty pictures, it has been cleaned since. Once the interior was out I quickly noticed the vents that feed the rear brakes were not installed correctly and were slightly a jar probably causing a large amount of the tyre noise from the rear. This was stripped down and fitted correct;y. The rear arches behind the rear speakers and the boot wholes either side were padded with upholstery fire retardant foam to aid sound deadening. When a sufficient amount was cut and installed, a layer of metal backed adhesive deadening was laid to cover the open voids the supra has as standard and then 2x small A4 foam sound deadening sheets laid on top. This gave a nice seal to the arches so the new speakers could be fitted and the looms repaired where needed. (they had been cut at some point in their life for an old audio install) I then used a good amount of silent coat vibration sheeting on the boot floor, around the spare wheel well, and then cut some sound deadening fabric with a rubber backing to the shape of the main boot floor this gave a nice finish to the boot and helps to prevent road noise, and drone from the nur spec. I then had a few sheets of silent coat left so a few sheet were added under the rear seats. Its also worth mentioning where the silent coat was used I edged it all with metal tape for a clean install. Once all this was done I made sure any missing screws on the plastic panels were replaced for nice black coated screws so it was back to OEM. This was all finished today and I took it for a quick spin and am so happy to report the rear is rattle free apart from the rear speaker cover which is missing a clip which will be replaced this week. The tyre noise is nearly gone entirely and the exhaust noise is reduced a bit but at 60-70-80 I had no drone at all resonating through the cabin which was brilliant, everything sounds and feels more solid and am now thinking about doing the trans tunnel and will be doing behind the dash when I change the dash out at some point. The interior ride experience has been improved no end and at the cost of only a few Kg's I estimate about 20kgs MAX,
Noz
That's an interesting read. Quite jealous. Is it expensive to do all of that? My carpet is about to come out and my doors are in parts. My carpet is about to come out and my doors are in parts. I'm tempted to do this while it's all in bits. Looks a really good upgrade.youve done there mate. No mate not at all just takes time. Breaking it down I spent 30 on silent coat 30 on the roll of rubber backed carpet 15 on the roll of metal backed coating 5 on the metal tape 5 on the a4 foam sheets The upholstery foam I actually got for free by going into a place and asking to buy some off cuts and he generously gave me loads. Then I had speakers, brackets, heat shrink and plugs on top.
Noz
I think I might do under the main carpet, as I'm planning to remove it anyway to re-dye the carpet. Seats are out anyway, any advice on what kind of sheet to get?
ripped_fear
Well blimey its been six months with no updates so here we go with all the outings and changes the car has had.... Will try keep these things in order from memory, First up was the Sclub party which was a great outing despite having some car starting issues... After changing x y and z I got fed up of it and sent the car to SRD as TRT was fast approaching. They obviously sorted it stupid fast and while it was there I had a new fuel pump, a few other little bits, MOT which it sailed through, service and a dyno run where the car made 470 fwhp! The issue was the piggy back ecu in the end. [/img]http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=234053&stc=1&d=1576160682[/img] Then TRT, what a huge success, the car ran faultless. We raised just shy of 600 for Latch Welsh children's cancer charity too On return one of my headlights misted up so I bought a spare set of uk's also changed out my rmm lip for a new one as it had a small scratch. [/img]</p><p> </p><p> Next NEC classic car show, on the way to the show a pothole marked one of my wheels so stopped on route at ibrars and he sorted it, thanks again mate.</p><p> </p><p> [img]http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=234060&stc=1&d=1576160724 NEC was a great show, car got allot of interest, and I got offered 45k for it and decided to keep it too, much to they anger of Grace. mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=234059&stc=1&d=1576160724 Finally the car has now gone into winter hibernation, and I have spent some money on black friday on some nice new parts so will update soon Edited December 12, 2019 by ripped_fear (see edit history)

Noz
Lovely purchase for the lights. I'd trial some UV wax for them. Facelift lenses begin to craze/internal cracking much more than PreFacelift. Try and keep on top of the UV protection for them buddy.
