ripped_fear
So my car is going to her new owner this Saturday now, and I'm hopefully getting the new one tomorrow eve. Now the insurance will be going over to the new car, leaving the old one with no insurance. Do I need to put it on Sorn for 4 days? as that seems bloody ridiculous but according to everything I'm reading a car if off the road MUST be on sorn now. What would you do in my situation? Mike2JZ
It won't matter for such a short period.
Tony
Sorn only applies to road tax not insurance
Scott
In order to tax it, legally it must be insured (previously had to take your insurance docs, V5 & MOT IIRC). If you cancel the insurance you SHOULD sorn the car, but it definitely won't matter over 4 days.

No tax on the new car, an even if it did it wouldnt come with the car anymore. Thats one is currently on sorn. My current one is taxed and insured etc.

Al Massey
Don't forget tax doesn't transfer over. So the minute your car is sold its untaxed. But the minute you get your new car and insurance is valid and database is updated, you can tax it

Yes it should, but you will only be refunded for full months if you've paid in advance. If you pay via DD then you won't receive a refund
