Check to see if the fluid is still a red, cherry colour. Ok so I had a look today and the fluid doesn't look very cherry looking so probably quite old. Would this cause the ps to have a whining noise? Had a look on here at a guide for changing the fluid which looks pretty straight forward so can give it a go.
