listy
So....I'm rather (many obscenities) off!!!! The Supra is currently parked on my estate just off the road under a cover. There is a Lidl being built next to where the Supra is parked. Next to the Supra is an 8ft wooden fence surrounding the site. So, today while I was at work they have removed the fence and been digging (with a JCB or similar). When I got home from work I noticed a rather large lump of hardened dirt lying next to the rear of the skirt of the Supra. Alarm bells started ringing. Upon getting to the Supra I noticed a rip in the cover. Louder bells. I removed the cover, and this is what I found: As far as I am aware this is the only Supra in the UK with these front wings, and the only place I have ever found them for sale is the States, at over £3500 shipped!!!! Also, the bonnet is dented and chipped. The Supra is not parked on their land. There was no notification or request for vehicles to be moved. Where do I stand here? I'm going to see the foreman when I finish work tomorrow and try and find out what happened, and why someone attempted to hide it (someone evidently moved the offending rock/lump of dirt/concrete or whatever it was, and where we go from there. Benjy
Going through exactly the same at the moment mate! Good luck! 3 months on and they're playing silly buggers about my car, despite the fact they initially admitted it, then denied it, and now the assessor has attached liability. Typical insurance company really!

JasonR24
Definitely record the conversation. They definitely need to pay up as they damaged your property. The thing is they can just say you need proof it ws them even if it's obvious

abtin90
I think if your recording the coversation you need to inform your doing it otherwise you wont be able to use the information ..could be wrong though Hope you get it sorted mate Generally yes your not allowed to record someone without their permission. However in Court judges take a pragmatic approach in civil disputes and admit recordings if it's seen as being highly relevant. I'd definitely record them when you speak to them and wouldn't worry about telling them you'll be recording the conversation. If you do tell them it's being recording they may not be as honest. Good luck with it all and I hope you get it sorted. Also have a look around for any CCTV cameras or ask neighbours to the site if they've seen anything or if anyone else has reported any incidents. Al Massey
And you don't have to inform people you are recording unless it's for data protection
Sanya
Recording might help but if they have good lawyers (if things go ugly) then your recording will not be taken as evidence. The most reliable way to deal with it is through your insurance, register the incident, let them know send pics, the insurance company will make sure they get their money back. However This incident is surely covered by their public liability insurance and if you gather enough evidence to prove it's their doing then they will just pay it off. Not sure if registering the incident with police would make them more talkative or not. But it surely would not harm anyone.
Abz
I hope you took pictures before you took the cover off, which would show the evidence of what landed there and the debris on the floor. Also taking pictures of the background, namely the fence which has been removed. Get them to confirm that they removed the fence then and as mentioned recording the conversation. Document everything and doesn't matter what it costs, if they damaged it then they'll pay for it. Hopefully they have no qualms sorting it and they just didn't know who's car it was. Good luck! listy
Well I've seen the builders, spoken to the company owner and the offending plant operator. I recorded the whole conversation and it was enlightening. The owner said he heard a noise that "wasn't right" and that the plant operator just carried on working as if nothing had happened (probably hoping he'd gotten away with it) and when he went over and asked him if he had hit the car he said "yeah I think so". So something didn't fall on it, he hit it with the digger! But it was only a nick apparently. To cut a long story short, I have an admittance of liability from the company owner and the guy who did it recorded. The guy is going to get his "bodywork guy" to come and have a look and see if it's reparable, which I don't really think it is considering there are big hairline cracks that you can't see in the photos, one of which runs all the way to the front of the panel from the damage. If it's repairble then he's going to foot the bill. If not, then his or the companies insurance will foot the cost as with the replacement panel (that only come in pairs) plus paint, plus a bonnet and paint, plus reblending it in to the skirts is a bill of around £4500 total. The main thing is I have admittance on recording, and a promise of repair or insurance to cover it. Oh and the guy has apparently owned a couple of Supras and it's alright because they are only worth about £3000 anyway according to him which made me chuckle a little. What a douche!
