Would be great to see an update.

I'm also interested in what exhaust manifolds you used, and whether you went aftermarket or not.

The 1uz-fe can be extremely restrictive, so I have read.

Hello,

I'm using the standard manifolds that came off the LS400 at the moment. As you'll hopefully read over the next few days, i'm just working all the final bugs out of the second phase of the project - which is to get a running, driving and drifting 1UZ car in NA format. Then i'll move onto turbocharging and might consider manifolds then - but would quite like to look at what difference manifolds made 'power wise' to a boosted car. Who knows. I've also heard that the stock LS manifolds cause much resistance due to their log design.

OBX headers are next to nothing, couple of hundred quid landed. But they don't clear for RHD cars and i'm not sure how much fettling needs to be undertaken to get them working.

Keep it up, doing well under adversity! Where did you manage to get a box and which one if the nice peeps in Sunderland kept the other?

They were in 'The South East' not Sunderland.

We lashed another one together in a rush so we could get the car mapped. It was done quickly and there are a couple of niggly problems with the whole setup. We're hoping to take our time and make up another one very shortly and iron them all out. I'm hoping to take the car to shake down properly and Santapod in Feb/March. It'll be done for the show season, it's only a year late...

Welcome back!

Sorry to read about the shit time you've had but glad you're back posting.

Off to read......

Also - the OBX headers just need a few taps on one of the sections that fouls the steering column, nothing major.

Gutted about your bike mate, gutted. Also you didn't name and shame the 'South East gearbox specialist'....

It's just not worth it. Utterly disgraceful behaviour by a company. Possibly the worst I've ever known.

It's water under the bridge now, but they STILL have my gearbox and STILL have my money!

Unbelievable

Great its back mate, how was your commute on the ZX12R? I def couldn't take 2hours each way on public transport either, nor drive 2 hours each way for that matter lol.

Ha,

It wasn't exactly brilliant - but could have been worse. I still love the bike, but 80 mins each way on a ZX12r and 40 of that filtering through traffic isn't great for my back or wrists. Luckily, the insurance paid out in early December (after the bike being stolen on October 5th) so I bought a brand new bike....

Which was promptly stolen AGAIN in exactly the same place only a couple of weeks after buying it. This time though, it was fitted with a tracker so i had it back within 40 mins. However, not without £1000 worth of damage to the steering lock.

Regards

Chris

Oh FFS!!! Give a guy a break! Did they find who nicked it?

Don't be silly.

This is London. We don't chase motorcycle theifs. Bikers are right down the bottom of the pecking order in terms of social groups the community gives a flying crap about. It's because we're not moaning snowflakes. People who ride through the city in -3 and freezing fog tend to be less bothered about the gentrification of a crack den.
