black_widow87
A couple of weeks back i came to my car after leaving it overnight to find that the battery was dead as a dodo, so my initial instincts told me its dead, time to replace it. Popped into halfords the other day and bought myself the HCB005 at a good price, job done. Went to turn the car over 2 days after very early in the morning to find the car struggled to start, plenty of power in the battery but just didn't fire. After 3 attempts it eventually fired up, it was a cold damp morning so put it down the the weather. The following morning i went to start it again, exactly the same problem, it wouldn't start. So decided to take coils and plugs out and give them a good clean and spray with WD40 to drive out any moisture. Put it all back together and it fired straight away, problem solved... so i thought. Went to turn the car over yesterday morning after leaving the car stood for roughly a week only find the battery was dead. Was very surprised with this as id of thought it would of lasted longer than this. So overnight charged it up and went to fire it up first thing this morning, car turned over but did not start just like before. I can only assume the 2 problems are related which makes me think it down to my alternator. Can anybody confirm that my alternator is f****d? rider
I used to disappear on tour for a month at a time and the Supra would fire up easily when I returned so a good battery isn't going to go flat in a couple of days without there being some other, non alternator, related fault. Have you checked the earth is OK?
thomo8568
I had a problem like this. I thought it was a bad battery as it would struggle to turn over after a few days. Changed battery and problem was still there. Problem ended up being the starter motor. Stripped it down and cleaned it out all worked after. Sanya
If your battery is full but starter feels lazy then it's kaput, but before that check all your leads and connections that could be a problem, also if you found the battery dead then something is draining power when ignition is off, measure it with a amp meter, a little bit of drain is ok for your alarm, but it's microamps (check in the manual how much it takes) anything over is a gremlin. On this my limited knowledge ends.
