CGEX
Hey guys just wanted a little info really I have a 94 N/A auto and wanted it to sound a little meaner, I was going to install a new stainless exhaust system, but other things take priority (being a responsible adult is crap), anyway is it worth me just installing a bigger back box (muffler) to make it sound better? I know it's cheaper but will it mess up the way the car performs or anything ? As far as I can see the exhaust system on it at the moment is stock, but it is in brilliant condition. Will appreciate any feedback you guys have. Thanks
Stonkin
If your on a budget, something like this may be right for you if you haven't seen it http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?327334-Motoria-TRD-style-3-quot-Catback-exhaust
Nic
If you have a stock exhaust fitted a Blitz NUR spec S is an option, this is the only off the shelf backbox I know of designed specifically to fit the stock NA mid pipe. It'll have very little effect on performance but would make the car sound a bit throatier. http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-2182.aspx
SupraP-Z
As Stonkin mentioned, i have one of these on my NA, and it does sound good. Not too loud without a decat, with decat pipes in its deep and throaty, and loud!
David P
If you're on a budget and are "handy" or have a mate who is, the best mod is to cut out the 2 front boxes and weld in open pipes. In my opinion, this sounds the best too. 3" pipe with a large tip makes an N/A sound like a flat old fart. There was an already modded one in the for sale section a while ago, have a search, it may still be lurking?
CGEX
For a budget I'm not looking on spending thousands and although I'm not handy I know someone who is, I mean the car sounds good stock but I've always liked those nice wide backboxes that stick slightly to an angle, although I'm guessing they are usually attached to a new mid pipe as well. I don't want to mess around too much with decatting it as I know I'll never find a place to MOT it. Would I be able to adapt the mid pipe to accommodate a wider exhaust? I think the stock system is 2"? So would it be possible to make or buy an adapter to fit other wider exhausts? Cheers for your quick replies guys ! Nic
I don't want to mess around too much with decatting it as I know I'll never find a place to MOT it. A 1994 NA in good working order should easily pass the MOT without any cats fitted. If you follow the flow chart below, there is no "exact match in the analyser database" for your car (all UK Supras were TT's with the 2JZGTE engine) so it would be subject to a non-CAT emissions test. http://imageshack.us/a/img560/9263/picture1nq.jpg Would I be able to adapt the mid pipe to accommodate a wider exhaust? I think the stock system is 2"? So would it be possible to make or buy an adapter to fit other wider exhausts? You could fit a bigger diameter cat back exhaust, the tubing may be wider but the flange where it bolts up to the 2nd cat is the same. For the best results, I'd fit an exhaust that has been specifically designed for an NA, these are usually 2.5" diameter with a silencer on the mid pipe and a back box. Speak to Paul at Whifbitz about what they can supply http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/toyota/supra/exhausts-decats.html or perhaps contact your local Powerflow dealer http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk and price up one of their systems. JordanC
Does this mean I can decat my 94 jspec tt auto without MOT hassle??? (sorry for the off-topic)
David P
Does this mean I can decat my 94 jspec tt auto without MOT hassle??? (sorry for the off-topic) Yes. But take a copy of the information above posted by Nic, because most MOT Technicians don't know how to do the job they're paid for.
drift_bear
Does this mean I can decat my 94 jspec tt auto without MOT hassle??? (sorry for the off-topic) I was under the understanding you will still need a cat due the 2JZ-GTE being in the database (since it came in the UK car), its only the 2JZ-GE that isn't in the database. David P
Excuse my mistake, I thought we were talking about an N/A.

So how do people with TTs end up with aftermarket exhaust systems?? Friendly MOT tester? Or leave a cat in? I would like to get rid of my stock exhaust
