GTR Fever
Good day mates, I have a NA-TT swapped auto MKIV, did the swap myself but did not change the rear diff. I know it should be an open diff (one wheel spins most of the time, sometimes I get both spinning). So it's about time I get a LSD for the back. Now I am from Trinidad so MKIV parts are rare as hell here, so getting a TT6 or even a TT auto diff is going to be an absolute pain! What else are my options? There are numerous Aristo differentials available but how do you tell if it's LSD while the diff is on the ground? I have also located a JDM MKIV NA-T that was used for drifting in Japan that is being scrapped (unregistered here so has more value in parts). I went under the car and first thing I noticed was the diff has cooling fins at the base, my diff and all of the Aristo diff's I've checked do not have it. I turned the input flange and both wheels turned immediately....tried to hold one wheel while turning the prop flange and it would not turn. However, if you turn the wheel, only one axle moves. Is this diff an LSD? It is still on the car and will only be removed if I am buying it. It isn't very cheap where I can say yes, I'll give it a go. What can I look for? Apologies for the long post, just trying to be very descriptive. Cheers, Chris.
berg
I recently opened a similar thread Only way to be 100% is to open the cover See here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?326495-Help-identifying-LSD
squiffy
Check the vin plate on the na-t to see if it says a or b on the code. I presume the car doesnt run anymore so you cant do a test burnout? I'm not sure about the fins as I'm sure my gs300 had cooling fins but that was definitely an open diff. The fact it was used for drifting makes me think it would be a lsd Because of the way a torsen diff works you can't just turn a wheel to test it unfortunately. I got given a diff with a manual conversion I bought for a soarer as the guy said it was open. It's only when I gave it to a mate to get it welded up I got a call asking if I was sure I wanted to have a torsen welded lol
Hitbox Junkie
you could always get the diff welded?

Chris Wilson
you could always get the diff welded? Not a good option, terrible understeer, bad tyre wear, lots of scrubbing when manoeuvring. Very Heath Robinson.
GTR Fever
Not into the welding differential option but it was suggested by friends locally as well. Any other options??
