Al Massey
Would love to see how people of today would cope with basic training at Caterrick garrison in the early 1990's I try not to think. It's bad enough new recruits in the army have an attitude and cry at anything remotely like basic training in the 90's lol
T2 MSW
Oh......you didn't hear? You may want to sit down. About 6 months ago, news broke that the mod yacht did not exist, it was a cunning rumour to throw the scent of what was actually happening, our fees had been paying to arm the mods with the finest weaponry, they had planned to turn on us, take our belongings and make slaves of those that survived, there was a huge uprising, the people revolted and the mods took up their arms and slaughtered people like animals, many died, the mods that survived were exiled and thrown to the wasteland, Branners was replaced by a council of peers, behind his profile sits 20 of our most beloved and prestigeous members. I still mourn for Blackie, he came back to help in the battle that ensued after we sent message for him to inform the rest of the citizens that had left earlier, but sadly, two weeks into battle, we found ourselves outnumbered, taking shelter behind the golden statue of branners riding in a chariot, we didn't have the weaponry that we had funded the mods with, his injuries were excessive and would of proved to of been fatal, I, armed only with a frying pan, put him out of his misery. His death was not in vein though, as news spread of his death, the citizens grew so strong with rage that the mods just couldn't hold us back and we managed to crush them like them cockroaches they were. HOW DID YOU MISS THIS???? Ahahahaha im not sure where I've been to miss all that

TheBlades
I try not to think. It's bad enough new recruits in the army have an attitude and cry at anything remotely like basic training in the 90's lol Thats a very interesting opinion you have, and you are well entitled to air it. However, I'd like to point out that 25yrs later times have changed and the MOD has lost large amounts of public money and will continue to do so by losing in the courts of justice. You just can't treat people like that anymore. "Beasting" has been banned and good riddance to it and those that delivered it. There's no place for it anymore. In my opinion, almost all of the training carries the same principles, it's just delivered much better now.

TheBlades
Maybe instead of cards and stickers in the members pack it should be bubble wrap and cotton wool so new members could wrap themselves up and protect them from the world. Cyber bullying really??!! He was advised he was wrong, he wouldn't accept it. It wasn't a bun fight, it was actually quite tame. He called one name and that was moron. Which was a pretty good description. He started to slate someone's car, and even had the audacity to claim he knew more about supras then 99% of the forum. Laughable at best, idiot but laughable Maybe we should issue gum shields and head guards?

Yeah times have changed, it's got soft, weak and pandering to the pathetic. And yeah losing money on the stupid claims culture we seem to have adopted from the Yanks. You sign the dotted line, you do your job. What do you class as "beasting" Bet it's not even a beasting. Training isn't delivered much better now. The majority of young soldiers coming out of training have no backbone, have attitude, and no respect or discipline. Yeah that's a great thing. The majority struggle in camp duties, exercise and on tour.

j_jza80
This Michael guy sounds absolutely amazing to be honest. He was the softly spoken forum rottweiler. if some newbie appeared and gave a load of attitude from the off, it was a pleasure to see Michael absolutely destroy them. Sometimes you'd get the triple whammy from Michael, RedM and Tannhauser. CJ (col - RIP) was also a proper character, and a much missed member of the forum. Havard
Oh and no one misses Michael, the guy was a grade A w@nker that came aross as the sort of guy that kept children in the basement, human body parts in the attic and molesting bodies he's dug up at the grave yard on a weekend. Reading between the lines Marc, I reckon he must have touched you up. Only met him once and he wasn't what I was expecting. If anything I was disappointed. His internet persona was legendary however. Maybe you were looking in the mirror when you replied?? Oh, I get it, you're one of the members who's never wrong, twisted and full of resentment, who can't resist taking a pop at any opportunity to make other members look small and you look big. Hmmm doubt that very much. My long career in the Army, and me teaching recruits proves that. I could go on but I wouldn't want to embarrass you with me being badly informed Wasn't looking in a mirror, it was aimed at you, just you. Never claimed to be always right, definitely not twisted, maybe my sense of humour, I don't resent anything. Had a great long career in the army, seen the world, got paid an amazing wage, have amazing friends family and brotherhood. Don't things most people dream about and what most people have nightmares about. I loved it, would do it again in a heartbeat. Didn't need to make you look small, pretty sure you did that by yourself. Nope not passed over for promotion, nor the runt. I did very well actually. Mummy is always proud, I'm her special little soldier. But look it's increased by 2. Do you feel proud increasing your posts with utter drivel? Pretty sure it's you who still needs the dummy. It's ok if you lost it, I'll get you another
TheBlades
So, are you claiming you're responsible for the state of the Army's recruits - being an instructor and all that. You must be proud of what you made. I guess it's true what they say about soldiers, those that can't lead teach? Thanks for returning my dummy and allowing me to increase my post count. Double win - booooom! Yes I do think that. Badly informed? Hmmm doubt that very much. My long career in the Army, and me teaching recruits proves that. Double win - booooom! No, stupid laws made by pansies and the new generation are responsible for the state of recruits. Not allowed to shout at them, single them out, point in their face, be in their personal space, sleep deprive them, beast them or even work them too hard. Recruits having red and yellow cards if they feel they've been bullied, granted that system didn't last long, thank f**k but the fact it came in was bad enough. Having double beds, duvets, TVs etc, no bed blocks, polishing floors, stress positions or corporal punishment. You couldn't be more wrong even if you tried. That saying is about teaching. Getting a posting at a training establishment was a good step I your career. Better luck next time cupcake

Better luck next time cupcake It must've been tough for you not being able to treat those new vunurable frightened recruits like you were treated. I'm guessing from your age and recollection of the red and yellow cards that you've been out for a few years now. Getting a posting to a training depot is still very much regarded as a privileged position to hold. However treating them with the contempt you have written about is not allowed and rightly so. Ordering or carrying out a beasting is a courts martial offence and always has been, but people we afraid to report it because of bully boy instructors. Seeing you have a passion for movie quotes, it seams to me like,,,,,,, You just can't handle the truth!!

Again your definition of beasting must be different. Nope wasn't tough, frustrating maybe. Vulnerable and frightened recruits? Wow it's even worse then I thought, well you made it so must be bad. 2 years I've been out. Red and yellow cards weren't that long ago. I'm guessing you found training hard, barely coped? Not enough call time to mummy? Did you feel bullied, aww bless. Recruits these days are soft, their treatment is now a joke. And proof of that was in Afghanistan, you could spot a newbie a mile away, even on RSOI you could tell. The Army isn't a normal job, it's not for everyone. It's supposed to be tough and hard. Bring out the best in someone, make them stronger, tougher, better, more disciplined and a soldier. If you can't handle that, then you should join the girl guides. TheBlades
Done what most people dream about and what most have nightmares about. Sounds familiar, maybe Batman? Well now you're a veteran you will be able to tell the world of your travels and woes including all the boys you turned into men. Don't forget to mention how things were much tougher for you. Look I'll do you a favour before you open yourself up even more than you already have about your instructor antics. I'll put my fishing rod and line away. Looks like I've landed the smallest fish in a very big pond over this thread. Once you stop wriggling the ripples will settle and no-one will even know you were there. I hope your integration with the public hasn't been too frustrating for you. Enjoy being a veteran, you'll always be one.

I haven't once said anything about my instructor antics, wow wrong again. This must hurt for you being wrong so many times in one thread. Oh well. Again, you try to talk as if you're the big man, pretty laughable really, embarrassing mostly, pathetic honestly. But it's ok, I'm sure no one will remember your contributions to this thread. But it has been fun, and to be honest I haven't even battered an eyelid or pondered about this too much. I've actually been quite tame and timid in this affair, which is rather unusual for me. I do love a good debate though, so there is that. My integration with the public has been easy, it's not hard really. Maybe one day you'll get that promotion, or the recognition. Must try harder next time, it might pay off. Stay low, keep fast
