Suprash
Is that the general rule, at least one has to be sprung, ideally both. Which is more efficient a sprung flywheel, or sprung clutch plate. I will have a read........
Guest Terry S
Thanks Martin. Ash try : Gearbox - Pressure Plate - Sprung Disc - Flywheel - Crank Stock is : Gearbox - Pressure Plate - Solid Disc - Dampened Flywheel - Crank.

Either, just depends who and how they are made. I would not want both to be sprung as it would set up some interesting situations during engagement. Just to (hopefully) make you feel a little more comfortable, there is absolutely nothing wrong with either combination, sprung flywheel + solid clutch disc or solid flywheel + sprung clutch disc, it just depends on the application. Suprash
I see, I see, why couldnt we have done that in the first place, see its no good saying plate this, sprung that, I need lamens (Spelt ?) terms, I need to see how it all fits together. So is there any advantage over each other by having a sprung disc or sprung flywheel........

I have had a LW flywheel on mine for 30,000 miles with no problem except the warped centre which was the choice of clutch disc nothing else. If I could get a kevlar clutch, lightened flywheel, fitted, including all VAT etc. for £800 I'd bloody snap Leon's hand off.
Suprash
Yeah, I love being optimistic, total price incl VAT, shipping costs, and Leons labour, whole lot done and dusted £1100. Though I did pay double on the shipping as I wanted it within 3 days. So you could knock another £150 of that.

TRD3000GT
I have been watching this all day. Possibly the funniest thread I have ever seen. I still dont know what I want to fit though! Its like being in a candy shop so much to choose from! Good luck Ash You have been a good student ISH all day Now can someone please just tell me what to get. I want a quiet flywheel and a good strong clutch. I need makes and it needs to be a good setup at a sane price! Chris :flame Dev
Thorin
LOL Ian Thats still a very good price Ash oh and Chris, a stock new flywheel will be quiet, yours is only rattley because it's worn.
TRD3000GT
I have been quoted £211 for stck fly wheel and clutch, but not fitted ? is that good?
Guest Martin F
That is extremely good if it does include the flywheel.
Thorin
Rediculously good, stock flywheel alone is usually about £250 (inc VAT) I believe.
Suprash
Chris, that a f:eek: cking brilliant price, I was quoted £180 just for a clutch.........
Suprash
Well for anyone thats interested, I got my car back, speaking to Leon and he told me that my new clutch just isnt the full kevlar clutch, it turns out its a dual friction clutch, which supposedly is better than the Kevlar. Well I nearly stalled it twice just trying to drive the thing out of Leons garage, shit do those clutches bit. And it takes some getting used to. Pedal feels nice and light, I just have to master that bitting point as when Im pulling off slowly I get the bitting point a bit wrong and we get loads of shuddering and a gratting sound, although this is due to bedding in. So far I well impressed, this clutch is going to bite good once I have given it 200 miles to bed in, but so far have taken it easy. Get a little bit of chatter at idle when its warmed up nicely, although Leon has said its quite good compared to some others.
