The RYA courses are quite cheesy you will see its like the Padi diving courses its all just about declaring the obvious.

 

we are the only country in the EU you dont need a licence to drive a boat strangely enough.

 

which course are you doing?

We did the VHF Licence,Power boat level 2 (your licence upto a certain size) and then day and night skipper courses (a licence for bigger boats again)

 

 

for the boat your after you would be best off doing your day skipper course preferably on a twin engine but they usually have single leg boats too ask for a go of that too you will soon see twin is the only way.

Mercruiser engines are extremely reliable, I certainly wouldn't have any problems owning a boat with one again and I would definitely take a Petrol over a Diesel due to noise and smell. Regal, Fairline & Sunseeker are all great boats to look at, obviously the older the model the more you get for your money and with all things boat related maintenance is paramount.
