mclarenross
Hi guys, my car (TT- now single) is really struggling to keep idle, runs real rough under 1200 Revs. But it's quiet smooth if you go through the higher Rev range. I'll try and explain what I've done so far, so car broke down due to a wiring issue with SAFC2( also has fcd), and since then I've had issues... Recently remapped, but I was told to get better plugs and coilpacks, so I have installed iridium plugs and superpark coil packs. ( but I have tried fitting the old plugs and coilpacks, but it makes no difference ) thought it might be the butterfly on the throttle body, but I've bought a new one and that makes no difference. Thought it might be the idle control valve, so bought another one and that makes no difference. Thought it might be the Ecu as the earth to the coilpacks was only about 7 volts, so got another ecu and that makes no difference. Checked all the vacuum hoses which are all new and no splits I've tried fiddling with the throttle control sensor and that doesn't help the stalling and rough running... Arghh it's doing my head in now and this has been going on for months! If anyone has any ideas of what I can try next...
Ric
coilpack connectors? You always see a lot of supersparks for sale, people don't seem to rate them, but if you tried the old ones i expect it can't be that.
Chris Wilson
If you fitted new coil pack connector shells did you make doubly sure the wires went in the right way around on every coil?
mclarenross
Thanks guys, I fitted brand new coil pack connectors about 1 year ago and it's ran fine on them so far.. Could my O2 sensor have given up the ghost as it real rich for a while when he safc packed in... Or perhaps the igniter isn't giving a good enough signal?? Chris Wilson
I just do not understand why you keep guessing and throwing new parts and time at it. Just take it to a good garage and have them run some diagnostic gear on it. Will save you a lot of time and money, long term.

You're in the north east, PM Hodge and ask him to have a look, or there's also Jurgen @ JM in your area. There's no shortage of technical know how. I wish it was as easy as that, ive done the 1jz swap and the diagnosis trick doesn't work on my car. I'm seeing hodge in the morning so I'll go from there. mclarenross
I was just hoping someone might be able to say, "I've had that problem, have you tried....a,b or c"
