pete.osborne69
Hi, im looking to replace my stock jdm seats, but i am not sure which are good seats and which arn't. I would love them to be comfy and stop me from sliding around I have read that the recaro speeds compliment the car and are really comfy what would you recommend and have you got any pictures. the seats would be either fitted with a 4 or 6 point harness thanks Pete
j_jza80
Hi Pete Having had several types, there are two I would really recommend. If the car is purely a weekend toy, it is hard to beat the Recaro Speeds. They look fantastic, are amazing quality, very supportive and great comfort. If the car is a daily, I would personally recommend the Recaro Trendline or Topline. These aren't quite as supportive as the Speeds, but the smaller bolsters make them easier to get in and out of, they're comfier and they look more OEM+. Both are great seats that you will not be disappointed with They are both found fitted as factory seats in plenty of cars, and they will both take harnesses. Recaro Speed Recaro Trendline/Topline
drift_bear
Another vote for the revs to treadlines! Can sit in them all day driving and not get uncomfortable, unlike speeds!
pete.osborne69
It is used as a daily driver but I don't cover much distance normally except meets and other things like that and I travelled to London 2 a year As for the ease of getting in and out of the car that doesn't bother me much I have done a bit or rallying and with a roll cage and bucket seats that was a pita so any thing less awkward then that is fine I assume both seats take the 4 point harness only
j_jza80
The Speeds pictures seem to have a slot for a 5th harness, but generally they are 4 point only. Also, if you are buying used, I would personally avoid the Supra specific OEM Recaros. They're expensive, and you can't get new side/shoulder bolsters for their unique design. pete.osborne69
I was going to get them brand new from http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/brand/recaro-seats/recaro-sportline-reclining-sport-seats/recaro-speed-reclining-sport-seat/prod_557.html
j_jza80
Ask about ordering them with a 5th slot then
pete.osborne69
I will do see how much more it adds
ripped_fear
The Recaro Trendline/Topline look great in that shot, but I have tried finding them in that colour combo, it isnt easy. All the other colour comobo's just look out of place in a supra IMO unless its tied in with other interior items.
j_jza80
It took me a while to find some, but they are OEM equipment in RenaulSport Clio's and Meganes SO I was searching 'Renault Recaro' etc rather than 'Recaro Trendline'. They do tend to be expensive in this finish though, I was very lucky with mine. Generally they are £500-£900 on eBay...
j_jza80
They do look great in a Supra though...
j_jza80
Although so do Speeds in the right finish. Taken from MATT_RR's sublime VVTi TT6...
pete.osborne69
I think I'm warming to the speeds would getting the inners in red suade be too much for the supe dash being in skimmed carbon fibre with the led conversion in red? Don't want them to look too out of place
j_jza80
Personally I would say that would be too OTT. But black with red stitching would look great
pete.osborne69
They would which is what my first choice was but wanted leather seats and the double red stitching is made from perlon velor which I believe is fabric?
pete.osborne69
I will have to see if they can do it on the leather aswell
j_jza80
Yes The velour does look great though. Your alternative is getting a set of used Speeds and getting them retrimmed.
pete.osborne69
How much is retrimming roughly?
Luxluc
The Recaro's from the Evo9 are great too.
j_jza80
Jurgen (JM Imports) used to do it for £450 for both front seats. Very good value for money.
pete.osborne69
Ill look into that option as well and see which will work out the cheapest Also what frames would I need to keep the seat as close to the floor as possible like the stock seats and would that allow the seat to slide forwards / backwards
j_jza80
Bride rails are the best option I *think* it's the Bride RO rails. They should bolt straight up to any Recaro Speed. I had to modify mine for my Trendlines.
pete.osborne69
Thanks while we're talking seats I was thinking of selling my stock JDM ones and use the money to put towards the speeds, how much do they normally go for as I have no idea I have pics if you need to see the condition of them Thanks appreciate all the help
j_jza80
If they're cloth with an electric drivers seat, you should see £50, maybe £75 if they're in very good condition. If they are the rare both manual sliding seats, £100-£150.
pete.osborne69
Passengers is full leather manual sliding and the drivers is full leather electric sliding although the cog inside needs replacing
