raddys
Hello everybody, as a few of you know from my recent string of noob questions, I am a new owner of a supra n/a manual Anyway when I give it some and get to 5000 revs the car seems to launch itself even more (like hondas vtec) Just wondering if this is standard on n/a supras Also while on the matter, when I do hit 5k it makes a sort of whistly/screeching sound (it doesn't sound bad or anything). Just thought someone might have experienced the same Cheers guys
Scott
I did read something about this a while back but I can't remember what it was. I think it's a standard thing but I can't recall why.
stevie_b
IIRC a butterfly valve on the intake plenum opens at higher RPMs (I thought it was about 4k but might be wrong) to give it a bit more poke at higher revs.
j_jza80
As above It is nothing like as fancy as the Vtec system, but I believe it is for optimizing torque across the rev range Personally, I would prefer the car was a little slower and had a more conventional plenum arrangement, as you will discover doing spark plugs on an NA is an awful job
Scott
Ahh yes that's it. Is there not also something about removing it to gain more power down low? I'm sure I read a thread with a bit of fettling to it
Kendo11
Yeah I've noticed this too, nice tiny little bit of extra poke. Definitely agree on the plugs, horrible job!
