neo1
With SP60 it usually envolves a magistrates court and evidence so the punisment can be varied to less or more of a degree. basically SP30 means a minimal hand slap standard fine and a 3 pointer. SP60 can see you go to jail !!! Think one is a green ticket and one is blue Well something like that anyway.

Not a clue expected sp30, certainly didnt expect to do a bit of bird! maybe class one will clarify, i thought i got sp 60 because the speed limit had been changed from 70 to 50 due to roadworks??? sp60 = undefined speed limit, thats what it says when you put it down on online insurance!!! how_supra
That doesn't make sense. Why did they dish me out a SP60 on a slight offence. It wasn't a mobile hand gun it was a normal run of the mill camera jobby? Its defined as an undefined speed offence isn't it?

davidd
a bad feeling about North Yorks police ever since I did an assessed ride on the bike with west yorks force - the police rider said he didn't mind making 'progress' as long as not going silly, but watch North Yorks as they're 'right [email protected]@ cheers occifer
jim_supra
I've got 3 points for doing 36 in a 30 zone Made the mistake of starting to speed up before i left the 30 zone, and 36mph was the point I went past the national speed limit signs. TrickTT
I got 3 points + £40 fine some years back, in my MK III supe, for an average speed of 106 leptons. Was taken over a measured distance between 2 painted blocks on the road. Saw the copper as i passed the first block, hit the brakes and went over the second block at about 60leps. I'll leave you to work out how fast i was going when i first saw the law. Went to court and argued the case and got off with 3 points. The prosecution barrister said i put the best defence he'd seen in 15 years.
Wolf
Clean as a whistle which made me laugh lots as I did Guildford to Aylesbury last night is 28 minutes topping 180 leptons on the M25...

Steve W
None on my 1200 Bandit..... None on my ZZR1100......... None in my mkIV TT.......... 38-in-a-30 in my "G"-reg AUTO SIERRA ?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Ewen
I got done in '78 for not wearing a helmet....my helmet had been nicked an I couldnt afford a new one, so I cut a plastic football into a 'helmet' shape, turned it inside out and wore that...I had long hair back then (ref previous pic of me on bike) and the plastic helmet made my hair stick out sideways like Krusty the clown....the local bobby had tears in his eyes as he did me. I also got done in '81 (on the bike again) for no rear light and no L plates...that time I was on my way to a student 'perverts and poseurs' party dressed in womens clothing and full make up and a wig under the helmet, with a big sign on my back saying 'pay as you enter'....the Twyford Twat who did me that time thought it was a lot funnier than I did

Homer
Not sure about anyone else here, but its amazing how many of us have never got any points. I was begining to think I was in the minority with a clear record! Sure, we all speed (and a lot of us to some serious mph) but guess we tend to do it in nationals rather than in 30 or 40 limits... Wonder how our poll compares to the members of Saxo/Ford RS/Nova forums?

Pixelfill
Bloody "Safety Vans" ... Having voted on this topic I have obviously pushed my luck, and highlighted to the higher powers that I haven't had my quota of points (None and Never...12.5 yrs) serves me right for feeling so smug. Anyone who's been caught by these vans, how long before you get the "Good news". I'm pretty certain that I've been got and am now wondering how long before I find out for certain. Just on the off chance, what is the margin for SP30, how much leeway do they (West Yorkshire Police) give. Any chance of a slapped hand, and a speed appreciation course or am I likely to get the points, also will it affect my insurance premium. Fingers crossed for me Mike

Tom S
I had a clean license. 3 Old points from a camera in 98. Then on 31st March 05, I was stopped by a un-marked Northumbrian Police type T*at in his Burgundy Focus and explained that even though I was sorry and he couldn't prove my speed with a VAS - CAR or a Gun, he would send me to court. NOT In court a very Expensive solicitor (£1300+), managed to convince the judge I was sorry and he gave me 6 Points (on a SP50???) and a £250 fine + £30 costs. So now not looking forward to my renewal quote and/or the possiblility of putting the car off of the road for a year or two to get the prices down. Fucking Coppers should be out catching the real thugs / Robbers not speeding motorists who supplement the governments revenue !!
Steve W
Isn't it like +10% and another "couple" or something stupid ?? I got an SP30 for 38 in a 30. Came through post in ~4-5 days. BUT, that was a STATIC. HASN'T affected my renewal (last week as matter of fact) was completely honest about it and NO extra, i think they generally allow you ONE SP30 not sure about numerous or "worse". It was 3 point and £60. FatS.
