kitch79
Hi all, after yesterday's power loss due to I'm 99.9% sure alternator dying and therefore my battery going to zero, I'm in need of an alternator. My question is, do I just go out and buy a brand new one? A second hand one? Or a refurbished one? I think new are around 250! But at least that should last, 2nd hand may die in a 1000 mile for all I know, then the refurb, anyone had issues with these? Muchos gracias. Frank Bullitt
The guys over the pond have mixed results with eagleautoelectric on eBay who provide quite a range. http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/eagleautoelectric?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2754

kitch79
Cheers guys, I got that 250 price off whifbitz, first port of call for pricing as I didn't know the part number. Not even sure if that's new or refurb tho as u can exchange old. I'll take a look at the eBay page thanks. After checking the battery voltage while off, ticking over, revved, listening to it, and touching it (and burning finger tip) I'd now say 100% it's the alternator with bearing problems. peter richards
cant remember what was the matter with mine I think its a capacitor or something but the fella said it was difficult to get the exact part , so I needed it asap so went with a new one hes is an alternator specialist here in Swansea , so he ordered it and fitted it

supra joe
Going to get mine refurbished. Bought it secondhand a few months back from keron and its dead. Risk you take from running second hand parts I suppose... But around £40 for a refurb apparently.

kitch79
Went with TCB parts [emoji106] 128 delivered next day. They take the old once swapped or it's another 48. I wanted it ASAP so this works for me. Cheers guys. Hopefully it's here tomorrow and I don't **** it up and get it all done In a short space of time :-)
