The Raven
Noticed yesterday on the way back from blue water my trip wasnt adding up. Thus the miles have not been adding up. This has only happened in the last few weeks the only thing i changed was the battery. Everything else is working and i have no error codes. Am i right in thinking this is going to be a "Dry solder" fault?
Graham1984
This is blatantly how all these 40k mile imports get here then
The Raven
I found the issue after reading a few posts on here. The ever popular speedo converter was to blame. I must have moved it when i was changing the fuse in the footwell last night before bluewater. One of its connectors was lose screw driver later and its working again. stevie_b
Glad you got it sorted. How did you deduce there were no error codes though? For the speed converter to prevent the odo from counting up, it usually means the speed signal isn't being passed to the odo, and that means the ECU won't see a speed signal, and that condition will generate a code 42. I'm saying this because it sounds like there's something not working with your error/warning lights. Code 42 is trivial and can be ignored, but other codes might cause serious trouble if you're not aware of them.
Chris Wilson
Expect PM's from the more "imaginative" members asking just *WHICH* screw was loose
The Raven
I have had a 42 before that would randomly chuck up on the dash of my old N/A this did nothing. I never bothered checking for stored code due to fact i had not seen it fault. The dash is displaying its check engine light on start up so no blow bulb. I will check to see if it stored it and report back. Just checked and i got steady flash so nothing stored. I know it works as it had a fit when i missed a plug on during my loom swap and faulted. Strange, maybe its the way my speedo converter is wired in? Luckily Chris i have not had anyone try that one yet.
