I assume this does not take into consideration if 'Steve W' will be in the car or not, as that will be one hell of a split I imagine:innocent:

Syed Shah
51% Front and 49% rear is for the NA. It is 52% v 48% on a TT.
Steve W
Is it the same Manual/Auto ? ? (Gearbox etc) what about 'spec' ie. A/C, 'lec seats, active spoiler, etc etc (not a LOT of actual 'weight' I suppose ?)
Need4Speed
Has anybody put a corner-weight gauge on to verify this? r them numbers for stock suspension?? Suspension does not affect it.
Guest Martin F
Well i've just recently purchased the Autocar with the original TT roadtest in it and they quote the weight distribution as 55% Front and 45% rear. Not sure if they're right\wrong or whatever, but they are certainly different to the above.

So what's corner weighting about??? I thought that adjusted the weight over each wheel??

Alex
Wet or Dry weight??? That fuel tank is pretty vast the weight must affect the distribution. I would guess its about 53/47 dry and 51/49 wet....is that fair?
Need4Speed
Alex The sum of the two front corner weights expressed as a percentage of the all-up weight should be 53% and the rear 47%. To prove the point, if anyone has a suitable corner-weight gauge, they should be able to show approx 415kg on each front wheel and 368kg on each rear. The car won't be perfectly balanced left/right, but the principle is there. Generally the weight includes fluids but not fuel in the tank. A full tank would add 60kg+ to the all-up weight and, bearing in mind the position of the tank, about 30kg or so to each rear corner weight. An easy alternative would be to put the front wheels on a weigh bridge and then the rears.

Gordon F
Originally posted by John Packham Suspension does not affect it. Err..yes it does. If you change the spring rate, or lower or raise the ride height at one end, that will affect the weight distribution, which should always be measured dry...... Need4Speed
Err..yes it does only by a very small amount
Branners
also all the mods that are done to a car will change it as well. The cats weigh a lot compared to a standard downpipe, adding a FMIC will bring the weight forward, removing the aircon will shift it back, stereo system in the boot throws it out. UK and import might also be different due to different size petrol tanks. Best bet is to get along to a bookatrack day at some point and ask to use their weight measuring equipment. Need4Speed
It's all small items though compared to the engine, transmission, diff, and even the wheels. 1% is about 16kg, thats a hell of a big sub.
Steve W
I can only JUST lift my subs/amp/box ! ! so, I'd guess about 30-40 kilos ! ! but, that's balanced quite nicely by my stomach in the front !!! SEE, I try my hardest to keep the weight ratio right:)
Need4Speed
Does anyone know what the weight distribution front and rear is on a MK4 TT? Paul, what's behind all this, now you've got a discussion going? I can only JUST lift my subs/amp/box so, I'd guess about 30-40 kilos ! ! ! ! That's about 7BHP used just to shift, let alone switch it on.
Steve W
OOOH, I've never heard anyone's Booomy-Blaster being rated in Horse=Power before ! ! ! That's got quite a nice 'ring' to it..... "I've got a 45 Horse-Power Stereo......" [what about turbo-ing it, or NOStereo ? ? ]
