Shovels
You might want to have a look at http://www.secpay.com/ I'm in the process of writing another e-commerce website and the customer I'm talking with at the mo has been advised a few by her bank. Protx and Secpay. I've used Protx before and they're pretty good. The guys up there are pretty helpful as well.
Gaz Walker
Thats a good price. We use Barclays Merchant Services because we have a PDQ terminal in the office as well. They is a lot of methods to pay for stuff online, it depends on how simple or how complex you want things. Have you got a merchant account to pay into yet Far? Gaz. far
Wolf/Shovels - thanks a lot for the advice will check them both out tommorow when my eyes are working Gaz - wont be taking CC payments 'in store' as I work from home Havent got my merchant account set up yet - I have applied for it from LLoyds and the guy is coming out to see me on Tuesday - he wanted to know which PSP I was going to use first - apparantly he puts down his notes and then my application goes to an underwriters before I get the merchant numbers, the guy reckoned it isnt guarenteed and it may not happed as people are paying for a serivce which takes place much later on after they have paid ( exhibition stands ) not sure how this would make a difference though Hope it does though because the plans I have for my website WILL set the standard in my industry
Shovels
You might want to look at the service provided by http://www.worldpay.com or http://www.securetrading.co.uk Both of these, as far as I know, actually give you a virual merchant account within the costs of the package. Each month your money is then transferred from your virtual account to your real account. The obviouos downsides to this are 1. They have your money for up to a month - they are earning the interest and 2. You pay more for the service. But it could be a way around the Merchant account situation.
