Littler
Evening All, We are currently waiting for a date to be able to move into our new house, the positive of this is I get to plan the spec of what I want in the garage, so I'm after all the options. It is a detached double garage with plenty of space (the technical term for not remembering the exact specs!). I am after the following setup so if anyone can suggest or point me in the direction of some good options please do: - Compressor - something that can be mounted in the roof space of the garage - Air tools (all the same brand to satisfy my OCD) - Floor ramp - built into the floor and when lowered is flush with the floor - Tool storage - that can fit under benching/worktop and is on wheels - Garage storage units (kitchen units an option?) - Best floor paint/finish - would like to make sure it is level? I do have options/companies that I have used before but I want to see what else is out there Thanks in advance!

baldy
if budget allows go for a screw/hydrovein compressor, far less noise you could run it all night and not upset the wife or neighbours
Chris Wilson
Air tools use a LOT of air, a minimum of a 3HP compressor, and even then some stuff will use more air than it can continuously supply. A 3 HP single phase compressor is not going to go in the roof space without a lot of reinforcing and getting it uo there will be fun. Older compressors with cast iron compressors are FAR FAR better than Chinese junk with alloy, Nikasil lined compressors. Have you got the roof height for a ramp? Add car height, your height plus at least 12 inches. That equals a very tall garage, with no interfering trusses within. A two post ramp is a lot more generally useful than a four post, unless the four poster has jacking beams.

MATT RR
I'm very jealous at the thought of a double garage, bet you cant wait to get sorted and kitted out I've bought a few bits from these guys recently, and very impressed with the quality, prices and customer service!! http://www.sgs-engineering.com/garage-equipment
Guest Budz86
I second the sgs stuff; good prices for the tool chests, jacks and some of the more heavy duty stuff and the quality is excellent (ball bearing rollers, very smooth and solid too). They also have a good range as you'll see and free next day delivery iirc
Littler
Thanks for the input chaps! Chris - the height is my only limitation with the ramp side of things, I need to make sure there is enough room, from the floor to the ceiling is around 11ft. Will look into the sites suggested, Wez I've got a Costco card so I will need to have a good look Keep the options coming
JayJay1374
I'm currently fitting out my unit. I'm using kitchen units as storage and the counter tops as work space. Best of all it was free due to someone upgrading.
