Dnk
I can't compete with Internet prices mate, maybe slightly cheaper than elsewhere though. £350+vat. Thanks for looking the Amazon deal at £255 is way cheaper than anywhere else so i'll be ordering that later. I've just been to a local bathroom showroom and looked at a Kudos shower enclosure, way better quality than the Oceania I looked at yesterday but then its a £1000 so really should be. j_jza80
Kudos are a good brand too, not really in the same league (or cost) as showerlux. Aquata are a decent brand too.
Dnk
Have you heard of Roman ? They seem to be at the better end but not to bad on price, I can get their Lumin8 1200 x 900 quadrant inc tray and waste for £800 inc vat I've just found a showroom not far away so i'll pop over and have a look
j_jza80
Yep, know of them, but not really familiar with them. I think they're supposed to be roughly equivalent of the likes of Kudos
Dnk
Found another place even nearer to me who stock Roman and Merlyn so I shall be popping in there tomorrow. The sales guy has just quoted me under £650 with tray and waste inc vat on the Roman and just a bit more for a Merlyn but with a single door
j_jza80
That seems pretty good. Are you fitting it yourself?
Dnk
No plumbing and tiling isn't my thing I've found a local guy to do the job inc all the tiling and he's very sensibly priced

j_jza80
Same group mate, different part. Which part? Classic hardware? I also used to work for the group
Kendo11
Which part? Classic hardware? I also used to work for the group I did 6 years for Jacksons, now work for NDI. Been here for 2 years as ABM. Was at Jacksons skeg for 4 years, Hykeham (near Lincoln for 2). Used to deal with Classic Hardware quite a lot, we had a few contracts for housing associations who always wanted obscure locks lol. Who was you with? j_jza80
A family run business in York that was bought by Jacksons a few years ago. To be fair I didn't work for Jacksons for that long, I left after the mandatory handover period. They decided that my highly successful, very profitable department didn't fit in with their business model, so they changed it for one that has a comparable turnover but more labour intensive and less than half the profit margin
monkey3
I know it's a bit late but I've found for low level shower trays (the "concrete" backed ones that are about 2 - 3" tall) then Daryl (I think this is just another arm of Kholer) are really good quality. Also, the Aqualisa stuff doesn't feel fantastic but my parents have had the same thermostatic system for about 15 years and it's never had a problem. That said, I don't really hear great stuff about it from everyone else. Another one to look at if you want the clean look in your bathroom is Vado. It looks great but I would also say that it's Italian so reliability may not be its strong point. I've had a new unit once already but it has a 6 year warranty. Hansgrohe and grohe both seem to be really good quality - we have a bit of both in our en-suite.

Nothing like it used to be which is a massive shame but it's the nature of a big global plc I suppose.
j_jza80
I dealt with Sue Knight (Jackson) a lot during my time there, although they'd already sold at that point

So were the Jacksons to be fair. My old man has been with the company for about 40 years, remembers the good old days when Christmas bonuses was cash in an envelope and massive food hampers for every member of staff from the directors haha. Dnk
Looked at Merlyn yesterday and liked their offset enclosure but it retails at £1200 with the tray and waste. Best deal in the shop was £1048 for the Merlyn Ionic A0101KH Essence Left Handed 1 Door Offset Quadrant 1200 x 900mm I've just found it here listed at £538 add the Merlyn tray and waste which is £180 so £718 !! http://www.discountedheating.co.uk/ionic-a0101kh-essence-left-handed-1-door-offset-quadrant-1200-x-900mm.html

Dnk
Good work stripping it all out! Cheers. I'm very pleased with how it went, 6 hours all in from start to finish, including taking the sink, toilet and shower door/frame to the local tip
Dnk
Apart from removing the vent pipe and rad the strip out is done. Ordered the Grohe Euphoria shower yesterday £230 delivered, the Merlyn enclose and base will be ordered tomorrow along with a curved towel rad, led down lights, overhead extraction fan and 2 bar water pump. Just trying to find a basin now that'll look right in the space where the old shower was, going to have a counter top job like this one but with an offset pillar tap
Dnk
Seeing as we're nearly done I thought i'd post some photos of where its at now. Just the towel rad to hang and grout the floor along with the section under the basin
