imi
https://www.facebook.com/pedronery80/posts/10153126241281868 Don't see many families for a start - just young men. Also not a lot of Syrians - seeing a lot of other nationalities..... This could and should be managed much better......now that the genie is out - in time this will come to our shores - guaranteed. Best of intentions of helping the desperate being exploited by the chancers, criminals and potential terrorists

Josh42
I'm currently in Kos, an island which is only 20km x 8km. The media made out before we came out here that we would be falling over migrants and that the island was overcrowded.... I haven't seen any evidence of any of the above as yet and we've toured most of the island now.

That does surprise me, I went years ago, and after seeing footage recently on the news I just couldn't figure out where the hell they were all going to go! Chris Wilson
I agree with the trojan horse fear to a point. Would ISIS be that sneaky & covert though? They seem to be much more open with their actions. They aren't members of some gentleman's club, or the Women's Institute you know? People who burn men alive don't not sleep at night because they have been "sneaky". Good grief....

j_jza80
The EU aren't doing this out if the goodness of their hearts. The unelected commission and unelected, ex communist president are basically using this as an opportunity to further destroy national democracy and accountability. They are backing this up with threats of economic blackmail for those who don't comply. Utterly disgusting behaviour by Junkers, Barroso, Merkel et al. Chris Wilson
Hopefully the far right in Germany will make their displeasure clear to the Pied Piper Merkel and her cronies in the European parliament. It's about time for some proper remonstration.
j_jza80
In this instance, I hope you are not right. But the EU only have themselves to blame if and when something does happen. Thankfully the British public are becoming all too aware of the nightmare that is being orchestrated in Brussels. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/eu-referendum-poll-shows-majority-british-want-leave-10488565.html Even in the face of this damning poll, Juncker et al still carry on regardless. And as we know from the recent general election, the polls are all skewed towards the left anyway. I believe this is because the pollsters fail to effectively get to an important, pro Tory and heavily eurosceptic demographic - the elderly. Abz
How many years before Europe and the UK look like the middle east ? Well for a start our climate lets us down, apart from bombs we don't really make anything here anymore. Fact that we all get taxed to death reduces our disposal income and to be frank I don't think we could afford to become like the Middle East. Cameron has committed to 25K over 5 years - thats on average 5K a year. Do we know how many come into our country legally per year? and what are the latest estimates of illegally? I wouldn't be surprised if the latter dwarfed the 5K per year number by a magnitude of 20-30x..... EDIT - this sheds some light on the official and potentially underplayed unofficial number as of today. - looks like it may be a magnitude of 100x.... j_jza80
Actually, Ripley said it first. Hicks repeated it after Burke called him "Just a grunt"
Chris Wilson
Nigel Farage is again a welcome voice of reason, despite the BBC doing their best to make him sound like Gengis Khan. Do people *REALLY* believe this swarm of well dressed, clean shaven, nee, immaculate in many cases, mobile phone utilising, chain smoking lot are really genuine refugees?? I see Denmark has closed rail links and the motorway between itself and Germany in a bid to stop them coming in.
