If you do that there is a good thread with pictures of the underside of the car with dodgy MS Paint arrows on them

Chris Wilson
I would *STRONGLY recommend you do not jack up on the sill points, use the front crossmember and under the middle of the diff at the back.
JayJay1374
Chris, when using a two post ramp where would you position the 4 pads?
Chris Wilson
Assuming the car isn't a rot box, I would put the *RUBBER* pads under the sill points, but bear in mind the load is then spread evenly over the 4 points. Totally different to a trolley jack under just one of them.... My pet hate is crippled sill returns.
j_jza80
Just be careful which rubber pads you use. I used one of the generic ebay ones, which then split in 2, resulting in my sill return being crumpled

Need to go straighten them both.
Mk4Gaz
Mine are all crumpled, from the previous owner. Really annoys me! I've straightened the rears back out, and have yet to do the fronts. I jack the front up with a low trolley jack, that just about slides between the wheel and wing, and lift off the front cross member. Having a trial rear, means I can't get to the diff when jacking up the rear, so I bought a hard rubber pad with a slot in it, specifically for sills. GazDoran
You guys are making me feel bad about my car! My sills are all crumpled - before I got the car - noticed the other day when I went to jack it up. Gonna have to straighten them out now! JasonR24
This is a huge hate for me, getting mine sorted on the new car. It's only 2 of them but I like a perfect undercarriage would it be a body shop that would do them?

The sill returns normally split when they are bent back. They will never be properly straight again.
Scott-tt
Mine are crumpled too I drive up onto blocks of wood first this gives you easier access to the diff and front cross member with the trolley jack
kevin smith
thank you everyone, what if I get a puncture and have to use the standard jack. I don't have a manual and with the skirts and it being lowered ?.
j_jza80
You should have thought about that before lowering your car! some scissor jacks go pretty low, might be worth having a look in your local breakers yard to see if there's any smaller ones.
