Looking at getting rid of our 2007 Ford Focus its just not big enough, so I want a manual 2.0 diesel estate with leather, must be reliable budget 7-10k, was looking at the Volvo v50 2.0 r design diesel but I read on parkers guide that they have had a lot of recalls, anyone had any experience with them. I was also looking at the Honda Accord gt estate but the misses hate them so that's out of the picture, can anyone recommend any nice reliable 2.0l diesel estate view and opinions would be great help thanks

V50 is based on a focus isn't it? Much like the C30?! You won't get much more room from a V50, they're a very small estate.

Go for an octavia Vrs estate. Nippy, 50mpg easy, massive boot, etc. Mondeo titanium x sport with the 2.2 tdci?

I've got a 2012 superb estate, lightly modified, it's looks awesome, has the same 170bhp engine as in the Vrs diesel, amazing spec, comfy, refined, honestly it's an amazing car. Don't know if you'll get a good one in your budget though

That's my superb....They don't get much bigger either. Biggest boot in class and rear legroom like a limo!

I had one for work for a month or 2 was a superb (greenline 1.6TDI) had every extra youd would want and i managed to get 60mpg and all my work tools/gear in the boot with out the back seats down.

Great car if i had the budget and wasn't saving id have one as a daily. the 1.6 was surprisingly pokey too

Mine was full leather :)

Wouldn't touch anything VAG. Or Merc. Or BMW. They break. A lot. Ans cost a lot when they break. Saab's don't seem too bad, it is pretty much a Vectra. But if I had that money and required that criteria, I'd go and buy an Avensis. Anything Toyota, Kia, Hyundai or even Mitsubishi pretty much.

Remember, anything with a Diesel Particulate Filter's gonna cost money later down the line.

I did look at the Toyota avensis but it's hard to find one with leather trim, they seem a bit dated, don't all new diesel engines have dpf, I know a few people that have there dpf removed but what problems could this cause

They do come up, might be worth trawling Toyota dealers, or maybe Pm wattwatt as he's a sales manager for a Toyota dealership.

Yeah, all newer diesels will be DPF equipped, and removal is now illegal and an MOT failure. But choose your weapon wisely, do some research into which vehicles kill DPF's for fun. Anything from the continent will give you more grief, that I can guarantee.

This ^^

There's a good reason why I bought an Alfa diesel and not an BMW E92 coupe diesel

Are you doing enough miles to warrant buying a diesel ?

Since reading about dpf on diesels its got me thinking maybe it's worth getting a petrol, I know the mpg won't be as good but they seem a lot more reliable than modern Diesel engines and less expensive , I will have to look at weighing up the costs
