j_jza80
This has been an awful accident, and my thoughts go out to the families of those involved. That aside, lets try and get some perspective on what has happened. 7 people have been killed, which is tragic. On average, over 4x that number are killed on Britains roads EVERY WEEK. Should we stop people from driving? I *think* this is first case of civilian fatalities at a UK airshow since the 1960s. How many people have been killed in the UK in that time by wild animals? Air pollution? Exhaustion? We have already done so much in this country to ruin our engineering heritage, I hope a knee jerk reaction over this tragedy does not do it further harm. Our CAA fast jet certification is already amongst the toughest, most thorough in the world.

Supragal
I imagine he wasn't meant to be over the A27 and was out of control, but then Planes fly around that area - is is an air field. Media have reported a few airshow crashes recently. Being in a traffic jam on the A27 and seeing that unfold and not being able to get away = stuff nightmares are made of. It looks in control to me until it gets to the bottom of the loop, seems like it simply didn't have enough height to do the loop. Or the jet had a power problem 3/4 of the way through the manoeuvre. Graham1984
It almost seems like it was flying along the A27, if you look on a map where it was just doesn't add up as to why it would be there, seems to be acres of space all around and only 500 metres to the sea The area is extremely hilly and that area is more like a 'bowl' over masses of open flat fields. Digsy
Looks like the CAA have already spoken. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34044383 Glad I went to see the Vulcan this year when I had the chance. No loops, but the pilot threw it around a fair bit.
