Fizzy T
There are of course obvious answers to the question of where or how to get rid of old / contaminated petrol but I'd like to get rid of it the environmental way if possible. Does anyone know a place I could take it or someone that would come collect it in the Berkshire area? The local council told me they don't touch it. David P
Give it to someone with a petrol engined lawnmower.
Fizzy T
I've offered it on the local facebook pages but nobody is interested in it,not a single sniff. It's probably not worth the risk in case it does damage etc. I've contacted the council and they don't touch it, the fire brigade won't accept it as a donation towards their practice fires etc. Petrol stations apparently don't have a tank where spoiled / spilled fuel is collected either, I find that hard to believe. David P
Wrong fuel service will take it away if you pay them, a pal of mine gets it for free and has run both his diesel and petrol sit on lawn mowers on it for years.
Fizzy T
Way too skint to have to pay someone to take it away that's the issue, I'm out of pocket already due to this issue haha
Mk4Gaz
Just leave the cap off the container, it'll evaporate pretty quickly. Or, it makes great weed killer

Chris Wilson
Good grief, how many posts can there be about getting rid of some petrol? It's not exactly tetra ethyl lead or anything particularly nasty. Put it down the street drain, and hope no smoker comes along for a while. All these bloody Green ideas, problem is, they have these moralistic aims, but making them work in reality is another matter, as you are finding out You could go up north and pour it in a water treatment plant, it might kill the bugs they are breeding. Paul
Take it to Calais, distrubute evenly over the camps and light Years ago I had a lock up garage, come oil change time I'd line the sump up over the rain drain outside and place some steel mesh over it, very good for the environment as it saved me using fuel taking it somewhere. Shane
Find someone (like me) who runs their diesel engines on anything they can lay their hands on and they will be very pleased to take it. I rarely get to Berks otherwise I would snap it up. Great for mixing with waste veg oil in the winter.

I think I just saw Paul at Dismaland, on the TV, complaining why they are not allowing people to take pot shots at Banksy's immigrant boats on the "pond" with an air rifle, to win a coconut..... Yep, that was me, however I took a rocket launcher to make sure it did the job and saved our fine country from this vermin

Fizzy T
My local garage has said they will pour it into their tank of contaminated fuel that they get drained every other month. I have a 20 litre jerry can and it's pretty near the top so around 18 litres maybe? I'm in Thatcham.
