T14PPA
I bought a hi stall torque converter a while ago which i believe to be precision industries. Was with david p today who was a true gentlemen and made my spare gearbox "hybrid". He brought to my atention that the bolts may be different! Can anyone help with that? Also the flex plate holes are a fair bit larger than those of the torque converter. Is this normal?
Benjy
You'll need shallow headed bolts to bolt the drive plate to the crank as the hi-stall is a bit chunkier than the stock TC. As far as I'm aware, the stock bolts hold the TC to the drive plate.
David P
The bolt thread size for the torque converter is smaller than with stock TT, it'll fit but the bolts will be smaller than the holes in the flex plate. Is this common with after market high stall converters?
T14PPA
Well pi have messaged me back saying they believe the torque converter is over 4000 stall but im unsure whether this is true. Might sell it if anyone wants it. I dont know whether i want to risk it and have to do the job twice. Or shall i believe the seller who says it was 3200 or 3600
Benjy
You got their e-mail address Mike? I mailed them the other day and I'm still awaiting a reply about some drive plate to crank bolts.

David P
A 4,000 or 4,200 stall torque converter wouldn't be suitable for road use, I'd shelve it and fit the transmission with the stock torque converter.
