Toytown
Somebody please let me know WHY this won't work ...... Firstly, I could be wrong but believe that the 2jz-gte & 1jz blocks are basically the same except for the crank thro being longer on the 2jz-gte to give 3000 rather than 2500cc So....... IF the 1jz head fits on a 2jz-gte block, is it possible to drop it on with the TT setup to convert the NA supra into a TT ??? the only real problems I can see are the ECU & minor niggles like piping the turbo oil feed. I'm probably talking stupid but would still like to know WHY it's not an option. I would love to squeeze a bit more power from the NA, but don't want or need 450bhp & the problems that go with it, so would be quite happy to settle for a cheaper & less powerful 280 - 300 Anybody ?? LeeT
theres a thread going at the moment over on supraforums about fitting the 1jz head to the mk4. try a search
Toytown
Done lots of searching Leett but as far as I can find, nobody has done it in a supra yet ??? 3 reasons I can think of 1. Not enough power for most (probable) 2. Too difficult (unlikely) 3. Too costly (unlikely) I know soarers are plentiful & not too expensive, so assuming I found a smashed one, I can't see it being a terribly difficult job, or extremely expensive, but i posted this to see if i was missing the obvious ! SupraStar 3000
LOL. Thanks mate. I've also wanted a few more horses without abandoning the NA altogether. Keep us posted. Wish I could offer technical knowledge but its not my strongest area

Toytown
Cheers Leett I didn't even know there was a 1JZ vvti version ! Presumably it's the one from the later Soarers or similar. But again it's going to be costly & with a plentiful supply of old Soarers around, I'm still favouring the 1JZ head off one on my Na block (after finding out what HG I need to get the compression right for TT's -- but if the block is identical then probably standard ??). I know it's never going to be as good as a hybrid or single setup, but I can't see why it wouldn't be close to a standard TT & without horrendous expense. I will have a close look at the soarer when it lands here tomorrow & see if it "looks" a fairly easy change. Hope it doesn't look *too* promising, don't really want to rip this Soarer apart for fun
