boostman
Doing my stereo install today, when removing the top dash pannel I'm greeted with this, any ideas, it's connected to the yellow and pink? Thanks
fastcar
try tracing the red wire to see where it goes! What ever it is it looks like a bit of a bodge job!! The yellow and red wire beside it could do with being insulated aswell. Not sure why there would be a wire tapped into anything there as that plug is for all the warning lights. Do you have any aftermarket gauges like oil pressure?

It's a right mess, been sorting it out all day, I'm an electrical technician and the wiring is so confusing lol The voltage gauge only has the positive connected and it works.... The negative is just in a chocolate block all by its self. Magic! That red goes to a voltage gauge, the yellow and red wire snapped when I touched it and it removed a load of disused cables with a million chocolate blocks! Getting there finally! Kev.O
If it's just for a voltage gauge, I presume the previous owner has tapped off the main incoming positive. Looking at the diagram it shows the cable as just yellow and is feed from the 10Amp Gauge fuse.

boostman
surely the voltage gauge must be going to negative somewhere other wise it would not work. not magic but :topsecret: trickery I know haha, I'll be changing the gauges soon and I'll take a pic! All I can think is that the negative has been tapped into somewhere between the end of the cable and the gauge.
fastcar
Hmmmmm chocolate boxes are a very nasty way of wiring in anything. I think all chocolate blocks should be band from existence

I think all chocolate blocks should be band from existence I agree with that! The wiring is horrid, I'm guessing I removed around 12 separate blocks and nothing is labeled and there is a ton of extra cable. Also who ever installed the alarm needs their fingers cable tieing together haha
mc92
Sounds like mine's fairly similar, lots of mysterious wiring and some kind of GSM pager which I can't find any documentation on. I'm no electrical genius but at least my own poorly made circuits are easily removable
