Well annoyed

Whilst putting my car away last night after a spirited drive :innocent: I was slowly moving it forward into the garage. As I got to almost where to stop the car I let the clutch up to where it would normally bite and the car shot forward.

Crushed the washing machine, damaged my tool chest and pushed the end wall back as the door frame is out and the door no longer closes. Supra I have bent the crash structure that goes round the front lights and cracked a light.

Was soooo pissed off.

two questions now I've got that out of my system.

Does anyone know the toyota part number for the crash structure and what went wrong with the clutch. Im thinking I've either boiled the fluid with heat from turbo (unlikely) or its low on fluid?? The clutch only went half way up and stopped, the bite point was at a 1/4 point rather than the usual 3/4 hence basically full engagement forward.

And before anyone says it no i didn't just drive it into the wall!!!!

Gutted for you matey :( any pics? Hope you get it sorted soon! Don't want to be driving around on my own at Cadwell lol

Crash structure may pull back out its only the flimsy metal part that goes under the front lights. its the first time the clutch has failed like that, bite point was 1/2 way down the peddle than it normally is :(

Think the washing machine is now scrap too, just a cost I could do without having just bought house and everything.

Sorry to hear this, I would look to the master cylinder and heat as being the issue. I rarely see what I would call adequate heat isolation for the brake and clutch master cylinders with many single conversions. Has the turbo got a blanket on it? If not, fit one, and consider adding a double layer insulation barrier between manifold / turbo and master cylinders. I would also strip, properly clean and blow out with compressed air, and re-assemble the master cylinder with a new seal kit in case dirt is blocking the bleed back hole.

I think I'd be more worried about the wall than the washing machine!

It's also a sign of the times that single guy finds a washing machine a life necessity! ;)

Don't worry yourself Chris, The wall is higher on my list of priorities, thankful the washing machine was there as a crumple zone TBH - its the only time it gets used ;)

Yep I agree its possibly heat related, The turbo has got a blanket on it but there is no barrier between the DP and the clutch MC, I keep getting told to put one in by a certain Mr Whiffin but its not been a high priority - guess its another expensive lesson as to why things are needed :(

Cheers for input

Not sure if that tops me reversing the Supra into my £30K Audi but it's a damn good go.

Doesn't even come close, your car was performing perfectly and you still managed to wedge the poor Audi between the supra and the wall. This might beat the Audi vs the lampost incident though :D

:(

Not sure how low your car is, but maybe screw/nail a strip of wood to the floor to stop the wheels...you'd have probably hopped over it in this instance though...

I tend to push the Tiger into the garage the last few feet for this very reason.
