Guest Drew
Alright Guys and Girls, first off don't shoot me down, I own a Toyota jzx100 chaser with 1j vvti! So I'm new to this forum, go easy on me!!!lol Anyway I'm after some new brakes as the jzx' are made of plastic and chocolate and since I've been running nearly 500/500, it obviously got really bad! You would of thought from the factory with a 2.5 6 pot turbo the brakes would be ok but am sure any1 who got/had or drove ones knows what I'm talking about! Now my options/way I was choosing to go are:- - Supra UK 4 pot fronts with ether standard rotors, 2 piece project mu or 2 piece dba 5000's -Lexus ls400 4 pots which I don't know that much about but to fit them to a jzx100 you need rca's to clear the steering knuckles or something and plus with it being Lexus ls400 I can see there being a very good pad selection n rotor choice. -Now this is the one that's got me thinking, because I do mainly hard street, odd track day but like I say mostly drifting, there's a Brembo kit that uses front and rear Brembo's from srt8 American(and British 300c srt8), magnum srt8, Chrysler 300c srt8, jeep Cherokee srt8 and you use Lexus ISF 360mm front rotors and same on back but don't know about the size! The fitting kit could be made by a child but you can buy the fitting kit for about £140. My question is are the Supra UK 4 pots as good as people say or would anyone who's bought BBK's for there Supra's say go with the srt8 Brembos or would you say just spend the 4 and half hundred pound or wot ever and go to Toyota dealer and buy UK 4 pots!!! Let me know what you thinking people or any experiences, good or bad you've had with UK 4 pots or if you've gone big brake conversion and regretted it. Sorry for all the questions but I jumped in when I bought my chaser, put no end of money into it and now wished I'd have gone 2jz gte vvti from the start instead of pulling the engine and box out like I've got to now as a BPU'ed 2jz gte vvti 6 speed would do very close or the same as my 1jz gte vvti has done without ALOT of money put into it! But hay, you live and learn!!! Thanks people
Dnk
For me a brand new UK set up for front and rear at around £1200 for everything is hard to beat Front only for Brembos start around £3000 Edited August 14, 2015 by Dnk (see edit history)
bignum
If you`re mainly drifting then its not really hard on brakes? so go with the uk`s, the 1 problem with uk`s is there`s not a massive pad choice nowadays which is the reason i fitted brembos. Abz
Value for money the UK's are very hard to beat but being in a Supra with Brembo's I'd say if you don't mind spending the dollars then go Brembo. They are just as good as you've heard.
