What difference would fitting a Syvecs to BPU Auto make?

I was wondering what to do next on the car, with the main aim to make the power delivery and transition from first to second turbo as smooth as possible.

 

The car currently has a Blitz boost controller and it all works but could be smoother. I dont want to go single, so am looking for the best setup for a tt auto in BPU guise.

 

Any thoughts / suggestions?

I did it, it gave me a bit more power and of course you have the added protection, however it is an expensive option and you will always be limited by the stock turbo set up, heat (high EGT's) are an issue

 

If you are adding bigger injectors they will be well controlled, however again the stock twins will always be the limiting factor

I am going single after i have finished the full respray, but doing it in a few stages, the first being Syvecs with paddleshift and cams, the second being the turbo, injectors etc and mapped to around 500bhp, the last stage being a rebuilt auto box and mapped to around 650bhp. I can provide feedback after the first stage but it will have cams, looking at the videos of the Syvecs with paddle shift controlling the autobox looks amazing.

Would be interested in any feed back you have Scott, I hadn't thought about paddle shifts just because the box only has 3 gears so I wouldn't have thought it would be that useful.

 

Nor was I keen to go all the way to single either, if like to keep the car semi standard of you know what I mean.

 

I wonder how the car would feel with a syvecs in non sequential mode?

As others have said if you are going small single later down the road then the Syvecs is a good investment rather than going with piggy back ecus etc. Not really required for BPU but if your going single later would be a worth while investment. You can be safe in the knowledge that your engine is protected with the features such as lambada closed loop control and limp warmups with min and max for things like oil pressure, temps and engine temp.

 

Worth every penny of the £3k IMO.

I would not bother fitting it for BPU and Cams, you might aswell save the mapping costs for something else, if you fit it for BPU you have to have it mapped for it, then again for the single.

 

Depending on the time it will take you to do all of this maybe just get hold of a Blitz or Mines ECU just to optimism BPU a little more.

Disagree mate, the cars I have seen with mines ECUs on have been at serious risk of causing damage to the engine. One was dangerously underfueling and was almost into the mid 12 AFR on load (just waiting to go bang) and the other had no rev limit set at all. Dyno operator had it the wrong side of 8.5k on a stock engine.

 

If you can afford to fit the equipment now I would get it done and accept that it will have to be remapped on load at a later date. Least then you know the fueling is 100% correct and you have everything build into the ECU. no need for separate boost controllers or TC etc its all in one unit.

Agreed, back when my car was stock I fitted an exhaust with decats and then an AEM ECU and mapped for stock twins still in sequential, I then built up all the other mods around it, ie cams, injectors and eventually single turbo, each tweaking the map to suit the mods, by far the best way to get the most from each change, I eventually swapped out the AEM for a Syvecs and not looked back ;)

Can only agree with all of this. If your end game is a single turbo, then you can have your twins mapped with bigger injectors and make the most of it. When the time comes for the single, you can still drive the car (off boost) to the dyno for mapping. Makes it a lot more convenient.

Thanks for the replies but since I don't want to go single there's not a lot of point to the ecu.

 

I need to think of something else to spend my money on!

 

Suspension overhaul, referb the brakes, new bushes etc etc . If you dont want to invest the money in performance, i'd be investing it on making sure the car handles as it should :).
