thinking of getting rid of the 458 and getting this....

went to see her yesterday and its stunning, just worried about the single clutch gearbox which is supposed to be agricultural compared to the twin clutch jobby in the 458. As its in central london they will bring it down to me to test drive.

HR Owen have said I can put the 20k deposit for the 488 against this instead. Should I do it? or just wait for the 488 which is more of a purist drivers car and the reviews its getting are off the charts

The Aventador Roadster is a stunning car to look at and a real sense of occasion every time you get in it. But, the single clutch is a real let down with the car. Its also a big heavy car, I wouldn't say it makes you feel comfortable throwing it around too much, like you would in the 458 which feels very nimble indeed.

The 488 is a totally different car to the 458. The brakes on it (from La Ferrari) are incredible even when standing on them at 180+ It felt like as much of a difference as comparing a 430 to a 458.

Personally I prefer driving the Huracan to the Aventador, if having some 'fun'. It looks fantastic, inside and out, very nimble and a brilliant throttle response, and cheaper! But will always be the baby brother of the Aventador.

The Aventador roadster prices will also shortly be affected with the SV's arrival. All imo, but I've had a lot of driving time in all of the above cars.

This as per you last thread I thought you had already put down a deposit?

If not I would hold off and go for a Lamborghini hurracan or if budget allow an aventador as others have mentioned.

Yes mate but im buying it from the same 'stealership' so they will let me transfer the deposit.

Just not sure if I will be going backwards with the Aventador in terms of the gearbox and the feel of the 458 - guess will have to give it a go and make my mind up!

Yes have thought about the Hurracan but if I was getting one of them then I would wait and get the 488 instead.

I think the Aventador looks wise is in a different league

Its just no where near as smooth, can be quite neck snappy at times. When your on the move its not horrendous, but stop starts (London!) can be a bit juddery at times. The car should have always had a dual clutch. It does change gear very very quickly, especially in sport and corsa, its just a little abrupt and lacks the refinement that some of the others have. You may find you can live with it ok, so a test drive is essential, its still a fantastic car! I found the roof annoying at first, but quickly got used to its operation. Roof off and rear window down, in Sport mode, EPIC! :)

yeah I think I will test drive it and see if I can live with it.

Other challenge is I've just had one of the feckin garages widened and will have to have it widened again! Grrrrr!
