berg
I noticed my power steering pulley turns like a badly buckled wheel I thought it maybe the pulley but its doing the same thing with the polished pulley Ive fitted Is this likely to be a knackered pump in some way? Will it be repairable or will i need to replace it?
Chris Wilson
The front bearing may be absolutely shot, but if it's as bad as you say there may be rotor and rotor housing damage. I usually charge circa £130 to re-build PAS pumps, but would need to open it up and assess internal condition for a firm quote. If you leave it it will be creating debris and knackering up the rack as well.

Chris Wilson
Could be the bearings in the pump, could be the pulley, I have seen some where the splines are broached so badly they are not a proper fit on the pump's shaft. Fit the steel one and see if the issue is corrected, if you still have it.
berg
It is the same with the oem pulley so its definately pump related i think I guess the only way to know will be to have the pump off and inspected/rebuilt or just swap the pump for a replacement
