The mkiv Supra Owners Club

Gutted is an understatement!

As some of you know I recently purchased a GTR to slightly build and replace the supra, well today was the day that I dropped it off to the garage to get the work done. An hour later I get a phone call with the following news

"The engine has signs of prolonged det on pistons and plugs. Chamber/piston number 5 is definitely damaged, has 40% leak down and is 2 bar lower compression than the highest, 9.5 vs 11.5 bar compression test"

I'm not expecting sympathy from you guys, just wanted to vent! I'm absolutely raging that the previous owner removed a lot of performance parts prior to selling to the garage, and never had a concern on how it would effect the car after!

That's pretty bad news Alex, gutted for you :(

Get the body work seen to, sell the bits you'd got for it and try punt it I guess. Rebuild is going to cost a pretty penny on an RB26 :(

Just going to break the full thing steve, not wanting to spend another penny on this car!

Least you can still tick the box of ownership like you always wanted to mate. Hope to see you back in a Sup soon!

Gutted for you fella. Its always one of the things that worries me when buying modified second hand cars. My classic scooby I bought (was an itch to scratch) had an apexiFC and got the map on that check - massively underfueling all over the rev range. Was ready to go bang but luckily no damage.

Least if you break it you should get most of your money back - its just a pain in the arse doing it.
