Ric
The shell website makes many mentions of doing the phone bit "inside your car" So effectively, they aren't breaking the rules on your 2nd link.
mc92
I can't even get the pay by card pumps to work so there's no way I'll have any luck with this method It doesn't seem like a bad idea though, it might speed the process up a bit anyway. David P
The shell website makes many mentions of doing the phone bit "inside your car" So effectively, they aren't breaking the rules on your 2nd link. The 2nd link states that it's illegal, so how doesn't this break the rules? "One of the things that we should do, but often forget to do, is turn off our mobile phones when we are at a petrol station. This is what article 115 of the General Traffic Regulations says, which literally prohibits “keeping the engine, lights, as well as electrical systems such as the radio or devices that emit electromagnetic radiation turned on”. According to Traffic regulations, the latter case would apply to mobile phones." "a possible 90 euro fine."
stevie_b
Sounds like a hideous idea. We're turning into a nation obsessed by our flippin' phones.

This I imagine it's referring to using your phone on the forecourt not whilst sat in the car.

charlton
I've filled up in a Dubai petrol station with the engine still running, no problem there for any of the cars doing the same - despite the warnings to the contrary over here. Even seen a guy do it here who worked for Shell
