safcdixon
Try keron on here id be suprised if he aint got one lying around, they are prone to rusting out so good condition ones are a sought after part
tooquicktostop
I got a new one from Garage Whifbitz, looks much better than second hand and they are not that expensive
AndyJax
No they don't hold the rear bumper up.The tank guard actually bolts to the petrol tank retaining straps with 6 or 7 small bolts. There is two of these bolts at the back near the bumper and these can be fiddley to get at so best jacking the rear of the car up for easier access me thinks. Yes good 2nd hand ones are sort after, most have or are rusting away due to their position.
safcdixon
They do hold the rear of the bumper dude, theres a line of clips that hold the underside of the bumper up, not structural but if the wind got hold going under the car it could potentially damage the bumper
AndyJax
Yeah your right forgot to mention that, its a black metal strip with clips in that holds the bottom of the bumper flush with the tank guard which easily un screws to get to those awkward bolts at the rear, but the majority of the bumper is attached to the car body and won't fall off or anything should your tank guard rust away:)
rider
I just painted mine today. At 18 years old it has a couple of small cracks but pretty sound. There is a row of screws along the lip of the bumper and a couple of bolts on the guard that I could see. Didn't notice any at the front of the tank area. The front protector is also prone to rust. New the parts are £260 for the full tank protector and £27 for the small shield that sits to the front o/s of the tank. I ordered the small protector today as the present one is flapping in the wind having rusted around one of the two bolt holes. If you are doing the full tank protector its worth checking out the condition of the smaller protector at the same time.
