Josh42
Hi all, Since posting my last thread about my current supra key being hideous, I've been looking around for an OEM option to replace it with. Last weekend I drove Rob_SRi's car and noticed he has a Celica Gen7 key which is functional in the sense that the lock/unlock buttons both work as they should. Rob does have to use his alarm fob to unimmobilise the car after unlocking it though. I currently have a Clifford Concept 300 alarm fitted which I will be replacing shortly. If a particular alarm unit would be required to get the celica key to work, I'll look into it. Does anybody know how I would go about it? drift_bear
Not just worth asking rob how he done it/got it working?
Josh42
Unfortunately it was already like this when Rob brought the car
drift_bear
Ah ok, I'm sure it could be programmed? Was there not an option from factory with a remote key?

fastcar
You can get the fob reprogrammed at an independent lock smith/key cutter if they have the kit! It's not very expensive equipment so can't why not. You could try somewhere like timpsone but the have a stupid policy off not cutting or programming keys unless you have purchased it from them. If you look on flee bay there are plenty of uncut gen 7 Celica keys, but you may have to go to Toyota for the fob

My only question is, what would then need to be modified on the car itself for it to receive the signal? Just the alarm presumably?
j_jza80
I would assume Robs car came with the optional keyless entry system, and the circuitboard was swapped from the stock key into a Celica one.
fastcar
Your car will have to have the keyless entry and the original key so the new one can be programmed!
