listy
1993 NA-TT Manual The supra died on me today Was driving normally and all of a sudden it went really lumpy and cut out. If I start it it idles very rough for about 5 seconds and dies again. I've checked the oil and it is pretty low but can't find any leaks. The oil lights (level and pressure) did not come on. I'm going to fill the oil up and see if that solves the problem. I'll also try and get a video up at some point soon. Anyone have any ideas? I have a horrible feeling something internal engine wise has given up If it turns out that that is the case, then it will be broken, as I can't afford a repair like that right now List of possibilities I have: Map sensor hose - Checked looks fine Ignition related (injectors?/plugs?/coil pack clips?/coil packs?) Fuelling (pump?/blocked lines?/filter?) ECU Edited August 9, 2015 by listy (see edit history)
j_jza80
Well firstly, I wouldn't worry about it for now. There's loads of things it could be, many of them aren't serious. In my experience, expensive issues are usually quite noisy Worst case scenario, if there is something wrong with the engine, just buy a cheap 2JZ-GE bottom end and swap it over. Swampy442
Ill bet you a pound to a pinch of shit its not oil related or that serious. Pull the error codes and they will tell you whats wrong.
imi
Why was the oil level low in the 1st place? Agree with swampy - may not be oil related - could well be electrical or fuel related

rider
I'd look at water in the fuel.
Scott
My money is on either spark or fuel. Don't rule out the clips just because you replaced them. Check the plugs, the coilpacks and the clips/wiring themselves. Fuel pump and fuel filter shouldn't be ruled out. I don't know anything about the ignitors, I always thought they were either working or non working. Additionally, stock ECU? Heard the addons can have issues with dry solder joints etc

Noz
Everyone's got you covered here dude. Just slow down the panic button and go through problem solving methodologically. Look at my misfire. After I head my head rebuilt and it came back fine then another similar misfire and I was crying, then it was just a cut dizzy lead. It could be something simple. Don't panic. Worst case problem you need a rebuild I've a spare GE bottom end and new bearings you could have. So don't stress it :-)

nihontoman
Is it ok to gamble here? if it is, I'd bet my left nipple that it's just the battery that's gone dead... take out a battery and take it to the nearest shop. they should be able to easily check if it's healthy...
