Warning Light Issue

How do i go about becoming a club member, and is it one off payment or monthly, as i'de quite happily pay it

Way way back in the thread when someone mentioned the FCD...would that solve the original problem? If yes would it still be worth getting the fuel controller as i guess it will not be running the correct air fuel ratio? and how much/ish are they, we talking a few 100 or way more?

would that do the job for the time being: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Greddy-emanage-ECU-Toyota-Supra-Aristo-Chaser-JZZ30-JZA80-JZX100-JZS147-1JZ-2JZ-/170871548708?hash=item27c8bceb24

and yea, i guess it's just running better than mine ;) but then my capri is running better than my mkiv at the moment haha

and just driving the mkiv around town without boosting it, would that still be bad for it? or is it ok to drive, but just don't floor it till the controller is sorted?

i take it if i got it dyno'd, they can't adjust the fueling on the stock ecu if i just have an FCD installed at the time?

You can pay £10 for one year or £30 for lifetime membership.

As regards your issue, there has been a lot of good advice already and to make it clear I will summarise below.

You are running a single turbo motor. Experience says that the standard ecu cannot safely cope with this type of setup without help. The help is either a piggy back ecu that works in conjunction with the existing factory fit ecu or a completely new ecu.

It is critical that the fuel/air mix going into the engine is at the correct ratio. The std ecu cannot cope with 400bhp, let alone 450. On mildly tuned cars with stock twin turbos 400-430bhp is possible with the correct modifications. These include fuel pump, colder spark plugs, decat, some sort of boost control and a fuel cut defender. The boost control can be a restrict or ring in the exhaust to limit flow thus restricting the amount of boost the turbo can produce, but many also fit a boost controller to manage the turbo waste gate. Search BPU for more information.

The FCD is required as the stock ecu will restrict fuelling when boost goes over a certain level (0.8 bar if I remember correctly but may be slightly higher). To produce 400-420 you will need 1.2 - 1.3 bar of boost on the stock twin turbo set up.

Now, consider that a single turbo set up like you have will boost in a totally different way to the stock system. You could just chuck the BPU mods onto your car and cross your fingers. However you may be in the scenario where the air/fuel mix is too lean (not enough fuel) and it could all get very, very, very hot and you could have lots of problems. For example, you might need a new engine!!!

The advice is to seek out one of the traders on here and get advice from them. There is not a lot that they don't know and they will be able to advise you as to what they would do to your car, how much the parts will be and do the work if you want them to.

My advice would be to do nothing to your car until you have spoken to a trader and don't thrash the engine until you know it will be fine.

Finally, no the stock ecu cannot be remapped.

Hope that makes it more clear?

I suspect the light is caused low brake fluid, fill the reservoir to just above the full line and see what happens.

The car needs a proper, fully mappable ecu, like a Syvecs, Motec, or maybe a Link. These are all costly, some more than others. Right now, thinking a stock ecu will cope with radically changed airflow and boost levels is foolhardy. It needs sorting before you use the car on boost, in my opinion.
