Bizzyfingers
I'm wanting to strip the original manufacturer's coating on the dashboard so I can paint them my own colour. I've seen folks in the US use googone or something like that. Will thinners/panel wipe work?
Bizzyfingers
I just don't want to melt my dash
Nic
White spirit or meths will soften the coating so it can easily be scraped off, I've also read on here that brake fluid will do the same but not personally tried this.
G9RGE
I used oven cleaner foam.... spray it on, leave it for 5 minutes and then use the green side of the washing up sponge and it just rubbs off. took me no more than 30 minutes to do the lot :-)
safcdixon
I used meth thinnners it took ages tbh, if oven cleaner works quickly as george says above give that a shot,

Dr_Doom
I was actually reading up on this/searching the other day. From all the old posts I found it seems normal household bleach is one of the best things to use. Obviously it's probably best to do it outside and with gloves as it's nasty stuff

rider
So the recommendation appears to be don't try to clean your dash with oven cleaner. Why would anyone want to remove the dash coating anyway?
Bizzyfingers
Because it's worn, scratched etc I want to paint it
