Scooter
Did you guys ship the head off to have it cleaned up and the seals valves etc done or did you do everything?
ripped_fear
Very nice, about time james built me an engine!
pank
We did everything ourselves. We skimmed the head and cleaned the valves ect at James garage.

Scooter
Nice work, I like to do as much as I can myself, up for removing an engine at some point but not sure I've got the know how past the stem seals to really give the top end a refresh. Must be so much easier to clean and work on out of the car

pank
I was very lucky that James only lives about half a mile down the road from me. He knows everything, I've had work done at garages before and he's put it right and made the car run so much better. It's definitely a nice feeling once the engine had gone back in knowing we had done it ourselves. Yes it's definitely a lot easier to work with the engine out. Within the first month of having the car back on the road the turbos went so had to take the turbos off for a rebuild, don't think James enjoyed that too much with the engine in. Scooter
Cheers I've gained so much confidence over the years doing various bits but I'm a 'pen pusher' 9 to 5 so certain jobs i just look at and think it's out of my league and probably sensibly so! But you never know, I might get an na head (tt ones seem very thin on the ground these days) and just wade in and see what I can do.
