so here i am again with more problems!

driving down the road at a steady speed and my revs just start bouncing all over the place. engine light starts flashing and when i stop it cut out. a friend said it was a missfire so i replaced all the plugs and while i was at it i done an oil change. went for a drive and it was fine all night. the next morning i come off the motor way and when i come to a stop it cut out. i started it back up and started making my way home and the revs start bouncing all over the clock again. you could feel it trying to cut out so i give it more revs. i got home eventualy. anyone have any clue? how had the same problem?

That's not bad, very much doubt it's going to cause any issues at all. The thing is constantly arcing as it rotates, and erosion is normal.

Well all the earths I had to check are fine. Guess all I can do is just work my way back from the plugs eh?

You still having the same problem? You think your ecu is faulty?

Yeh it's a Mines ecu and it's definitely faulty, when replaced with the original the problem dissappears and when I put the Mines back in the problem comes back.

It's a quick job to swap if you know anyone with a spare ecu to check.

My ecu is the original. The ecu was my first thought to be honest. But after changing the spark plugs the problem went for a night. Then found the problem with the dizzy. That fixed it for a week. Now it's back again

Well if there's someone near you with a spare it can't hurt to try it, I'm sure they'd lend it you for a few days.

Mine wad very intermittent, but once the revs went walkies and it cut out it wouldn't start for a while unless the ecu was changed then it instantly came back to life.

I'm not saying its definitely the ecu but your video is identical to what mine did.

  • 2 weeks later...

ok so today i finally got a day off! i fit the new dizzy cap and arm. started fine, wasn't rough at all. with the old one in my car just about started. took it for a short drive to the garage to put air in the tyre and it was driving nice. pulled up to the compressor and then it just cut out again. now when im driving it and the revs start bouncing all over the show i can smell fuel. and i noticed it used allot more fuel than it usually would to get the garage which is a 3 minute drive away from my house, it used up far too much fuel. looking for more options. i can see me spending silly money before finding the problem haha

oh and i also realised these things are happening when the engine get up to temperature.

I would look at the ECU water temp sensor and the intake air temp sensor resistances. I did say it wouldn't be the disi cap or rotor arm or leads :)

It is very easy to waste a LOT of money throwing bits at poorly running engines in the hope that DIY must be cheaper than taking it to a garage......

I would also want to view the fuel pressure when it's running in real time, with a gauge in the car.
