cainhead
Just need a little advice. The air con has been temperamental over the last 4 years or so. When I got the car 10 years ago the air con was excellent and didn't need re-gassing for about 5 years. Then I have had it done three times in last 5 years and its gone again. I did have a strange noise coming from around that area for a short while which has dispersed and now when I hit the AC button I don't get the usual increase in revs. I guess what I trying to find is whether the increase in revs is common across all MKIV's as this would suggest to me the pump is gone, unless anyone else has any other ideas? All help much appreciated.
james_cbr
its supost to increase the revs check to see if the pump is spinning mine stoped the other day coz it leaked and the pressure was low
JackyBoi
Sorry for the hijack, but what's the problem is the a/c doesn't work all-together no matter how much you gas it? Pump or what?
samgtr
If your gas is low the air con compressor doesnt kick in so you wouldnt see the revs change. And if your having to top it up regularly you have a leak. You can get aircon gas with dye in it to pin point leaks

cainhead
Sorry for the hijack, but what's the problem is the a/c doesn't work all-together no matter how much you gas it? Pump or what? Yeah no cool air and no increase in revs. Last time it was gassed (last summer) they leaked checked it with the machine and nothing showed up. How often is everyone having to have theirs gassed? j_jza80
A corroded condenser is probably the most likely cause.
