Crash Bandicoot Posted June 27, 2015 Share Posted June 27, 2015 Hi all, looking at a site called extremeoffsetwheels.com at some of their BDE style wheels in chrome, I'm after the fronts being 9.5-10J and the tears to be anywhere between 10 and 12.5J I have a stock arched facelift TT with untouched arches. What are my options on ET? I want a nice fitted look without too much poke or arch overhang. I don't mind going down the route of getting the arches rolled but don't fancy the route of over fenders or arch flaring if possible. What do you guys recommend? Scooter Posted June 27, 2015 Share Posted June 27, 2015 The offset is relatively easy to work out, the brake clearance isn't as it depends on the wheels design, particularly the spokes. Ok take the standard wheels of 8" and 9.5" and 50mm offset. If you add an inch width you'll gain half of that into the arch and half out towards the arch lip, assuming the same offset. Then if the offset is say 40 on the new wheels then the edge of the rim will stick out a further 10mm, so 10.5" 40mm offset rears will stick out 12.5mm (half an inch) plus 10mm ie 22.5mm. If you have some stock wheels you can make some measurements from their lips to the arch and see what you think will fit. Nic Posted June 27, 2015 Share Posted June 27, 2015 (edited) Front 9" +35 Rear 10" +35 These widths and offsets will sit just about flush with the stock wheel arches and with reasonably sizes tyres they should not rub. If you use these widths and offsets as a starting point, you can then use a wheel offset calculator http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator to compare how other wheel widths and offsets will fit. You didn't answer my question on the other thread HERE, if you know what wheel widths and offsets you want then it's easy to work out how wide the extended wheel arches would need to be to clear them. You either start with knowing the wheel arch extension and work out the wheel sizes to fit or the other way around, you know the wheel sizes and work out how much wider the wheel arches need to be. j_jza80 Posted June 27, 2015 Share Posted June 27, 2015 I'm roughly: Front - ET25, 8J with 235/40/18 Rear- ET25, 9J with 255/35/18 There's a little rubbing on uneven surfaces, but is fine for normal driving. I have 10.5 front and 11.5 rear, not sure what the offsets are though. They clear UK brakes with ease have had a rear arch roll aswell. Not without pulling the stock wheel arches out. Below is a photo of mine, the rear wheels are 18 x 10 +32 (fronts 18 x 9 +32) with the wheel arch lip rolled a little to stop the tyre catching. Compared to mine, 10 +20 rear wheels would stick out an extra 12mm, 11.5 +20 wheels would stick out an extra 31mm. If you use the offset calculator I posted a link to you can check this.
