albundy68
classic car insurance is basically low/limited milage insurance, dead easy to get. The sky guys would do it, and the 'other' BBS has a discount deal set up for supra's on limited milage with Livingstones, like any insurance, worth trying a few places... Aerotop Dave
My manager at work mentioned this to me as I do 4000 miles a year. I think if you're summer and weekend use only you'd almost certainly qualify. Definitely worth asking.
GeordieSteve
I'm going to look into this when I get my car back on the road. Do you think they wouldn't exactly be happy with a big single?
Aerotop Dave
I don't think the engine configuration should matter - it's the use of the car that qualifies it (potentially) for classic car insurance. If you think about a 20 year old Countach that's only used in the Summer for a few weekends that would qualify despite being a fast car, and any insurance claim on that is going to be far bigger than a single-fitted Supra. Soop Dogg
Most 'Classic' policies require the car to be over a specified age. However, you can also find specialist policies that work in a similar way. AON used to do a 'Roadster' policy through Royal and Sun Alliance which was pretty cheap. You could limit your mileage to 3,5 or 7,000 miles. Be careful though. Before taking out any of these 'limited mileage', 'Classic' or 'Specialist' policies, make sure it earns you a PROPER no claims discount. There are some out there that don't earn ANY NCD at all. They have a habit of not mentioning this until the first renewal.

Pete
There are some out there that don't earn ANY NCD at all. They have a habit of not mentioning this until the first renewal. I can't see how they can do this. At the end of the day if you supply copies of all your paperwork to another insurance firm proving you've not made a claim then what's the problem? I think they just do this to say "look, this is your policy price, it's damn good and isn't getting any cheaper ok?" They did this for my Kit this year. £130 policy for the year. It's not going to get any cheaper than that ever, but so what as it was £90 cheaper than my renewal! [edit] should also add that it's a second policy and so won't be ported to a 'normal' car where NCD might be of help.
Soop Dogg
AON full comp 5000 miles per year 1994 TT £466 The AON policy is one that I KNOW doesn't give you any no claims discount. Or at least it didn't a year and a half ago.
