Dnk
WTF is it with Skype. I've upgraded it as it's just told me my Skype wont work after July 7th and the new version now won't work unless I turn my AVG firewall off, the old one was working fine with AVG I click on the Skype help button and none of the drop down options work either FFS
Mike2JZ
If AVG has it's own firewall, then make sure to grant permission to Skype to allow it access to work. Edit: Also make sure skype is allowed on your windows firewall as well to be sure

supra_ufo
defo must be an issue with AVG then, is the firewall version specific? maybe download the latest version if your using the free
Dnk
Its the latest paid for AVG version The mad thing is I can click on the Skype app and the old system works, click on the upgraded Skype and it doesn't
Mike2JZ
Since upgrading Skype, have you updated the firewall permissions? If your firewall permissions are still pointing to the older version skype path then it could be a contribution factor to the issue.
Dnk
I've tried updating the permissions but it doesn't appear to work. Do you think I need to remove the old Skype permissions from the list ? There's actually 2 in the applications list both with the same file path
Abz
AVG is rubbish Dunk, it certainly sounds like that is what is causing the problem. I would remove them all, reboot & then re-add again.

The Antivirus is fine, but like most of these pieces of software they go mad and before long you have a pc full of stuff....
Dnk
I have just sorted it, gave up last night but attacked it this morning with a clear head. I've never had any issues with AVG, has always worked fine, the only issue really was getting the correct info of the updated Skype into the applications list which I've just done

daniel4781
Skype will default to a certain Port. (Don't remember which, no computer on me atm) Try changing it to either 80 or 8080. Just have a look in the setting and you'll find it. ;-)
