Jen is thinking about changing her Audi TT soon and a car that might be of interest is the Merc SLK200

Just wanted to know if anyone had any info on them, good or bad

Going to have a look at this one on Saturday

I work at Merc and the general feedback is it's a nice drive, but the engine is a bit unrefined. It's the 'old' generation of Mercs now and the SLC will be released soon. Might be worth holding out for as hopefully it'll have a less lumpy engine and it'll have the updated exterior & interior (although I prefer this generation of interior)

To be honest the Engine refinement is not a major factor, as Jen drives in traffic to and from work, reliability is probably the major thing, we have had a few issues with the window mechs on the TT, to do with the roof

Are there any issues with them to watch for

I got some very good info on there regarding the SL350's I was looking at and possibly saved me a big chunk

of cash due to engine issues, I even got the details of the engine numbers affected.

One problem is balance shafts which is a very costly repair

I've no idea on the car you've listed as i'm looking at 08/09 models, it seems new cars these days are riddled

with potential costly problems but I guess if your under Merc warranty that doesn't really matter much other

than how much value it loses in a short period of time

Judging by the side of the car, that value is £299 per month ;)

Its also got a price of nearly £26k in the advert so I guess it depends on how you buy it, outright or in a contract over x years

with so much deposit etc.

Think that is for a brand new one, this is the Ex Demo car, only just been put up for sale, so still has the decals on it

Thanks Dunk, I will have a look at that tomorrow evening

I really like these. Can't offer any opinion on them other than I think they're a nice looking car.

Have you looked at the newish CDi versions of these? Figures look good and decent refinement.

Trying to get away from the Diesels for Jen, she just doesn't do enough mileage anymore

Yup, but you get a guaranteed value at the end of the contract with the most common finance types at least, so you're under no illusions come the end of the contract about how much you've spent over that time.

Yep I know how it works :)

If you want a new motor its a great way of having one, I prefer my older models and try to buy them right, drive for 2 to 3 years

and sell for not much less than I pay for them :)

My last 3 cars I've managed to do this with, Hopefully i'll be doing the same with my latest E46 when I find

its replacement.
